what organizational structure to use?
I need help explaining in which situation the use of the organizational structures would be the best method to manage a project team. functional, matrix and pure project structures.

- It depends on the scope and scale of the project. A small project affecting only a part of the organization would be functional. Like a new Acccounts Payable system only affects Accounting, so a team of accountants is all that is needed. A larger project with huge implications affecting a cross section of areas, like Finance, Operations, Logistics, and IT would require a matrix so there are reps from all areas. Like installing an entirely new network backbone that changes how everyone logs in and connects. But a small project affecting a cross section that is small in scale but wide in scope could be right for a project team that simply coordinates with managers across the other areas. This might be like a new supply procurement system where only project experts work with managers in other areas to make sure the system "fits" how they do business. Hope that helps.
