What is the cheapest/fastest way to travel between Philadelphia and Chicago?

I am considering attending a college in Chicago, so I would like to see realistically how I will be able to travel home to Philadelphia.

2. walking is the cheapest. I imagine being tied to a rocket fired at chicago/phila. is the fastest.

5. Southwest runs some pretty good deals between Chicago and Philly. Also, Midwest airlines.
6. greyhound is the cheapest. buying plane tickets in advance is the fastest and can save some doe also there is amtrak but they aint that cheap. there are also a number of other motorcoaches too
7. Plane is probably both cheapest and fastest, particularly when you consider food. Bus takes so long, you need to figure in how to feed yourself on the trip. (about 18-20 hours.) Try www.kayak.com. They have a calendar that shows the cheapest flights for a month. August's cheapest is $137 RT on August 25. That might beat the bus.
