How to find out if an audition in Philadelphia area is legitimate?

I've registered my daughter for an audition at the Marriott in Philadelphia on 6/7 because of an ad I heard on a radio station that gave an 800#. How do I find out if it's legitimate? They say that the casting agent for Hannah Montana and another show will be there looking for new talent. They asked her age, hair color, eye color and said we need to bring two head shots. Money was not mentioned.

  1. Good question! I know that I'm going to be in that area doing a presentation for a convention (one that costs money), but I don't think we are having the casting director for Hannan Montana, but I could be wrong. If it is indeed the same audition, then there will be a presentation followed by an audition, you absolutely do not have to go to the convention to do the other audition. I hope it's not my event because the convention was supposed to be mentioned on the radio ad and on the phone. If it's not what you thought it would be when you arrive, you can always leave with the only thing lost being your time. Good luck and let me know if it's legit. **addition** I believe it's the same audition and the agent that is going to be there is none other than Thor Bradwell of the William Morris Agency. You'll have to sit through a 40 minute presentation, but you'll have the opportunity to audition for him. If you wouldn't mind, would you email me what they said on the phone so I can be sure they are saying the right thing? I would appreciate it.
  2. Did the company provide you with a name? Generally these hotel auditions are rarely legit-- but it could be legit contacting your local film board and see what they have to say about the organization. I did some footwork it looks like the casting for the series is handled by Central Casting in Burbank California which is a very legit organization. If it is not that organization then it is probably a scam. But I would recommend going for the experience but DO NOT give them any money.
  3. I heard about that audition on the radio too. I'm going to ask my mom to take me since acting is only my passion. I hope it's legit. :/
  4. Hi .. I brought my daughter to this audition today and it's basically a sales pitch for those looking for kids to attend their schooling at a considerable price, if you are what they are looking for. She did her 30 second commercial after waiting comfortably for about 2 hours, and then was send to a short interview. She had a "great personality" is what she was told, and every person who attended audition today, HAS TO RETURN tomorrow in order to see if you were chosen or not (that is to attend their "workshop"). It seems legit to those who truly want to pursue acting. We'll find out tomorrow if they "accept" her or not.
  5. My daughter was at this audition and interview yesterday, also, and was invited to the call back today to get her results. However, I was told that if we were not interested in the workshop then it was not necessary to return today. I was also told that if Ms Liedtke or Mr Bradwell liked her audition they would contact us regardless of whether we continued with the "Marketing Workshop" or not. But, I did get the distinct impression the workshops ($1,900 for 16 hours or more) was the main reason for the event. Although they mentioned that some children would not make it to callbacks, I am wondering if every child interviewed did, in fact, make it.
