What are some of the most major social issues going on in the United States at the moment?

Can someone tell me what's going on in the US? I'm an American teenager who lives in Japan, and I want to know what's going on in my country, but it's too difficult to read the paper every single day. So... can someone please sum up a few of the major social issues?

  1. Twitter is a plauge apon the interwebz.. It clogs tubes.
  2. High unemployment
  3. Lot's of hot guys are smoking cigarettes with their asses, which causes them to turn into stone statues. It's a really bad problem, but very orgasmic!!!
  4. 1/Universal Health Care!! The main one!! 2/Economy is in a terrible situation... a lot of people do not have jobs right now! 4/Education is being affected really hard.. tuition is going up!! Everything actually!! Hey! you should see this documentary! Because you care I share this web page... http://www.moviesfoundonline.com/sicko.php Enjoy this documentary!! It's really helpful! AFter watching this my concept for the US changed drastically!
  5. 1. Unemployment, 2. No health care for the poor and unemployed, 3 we are being hit by an international recession and everyone is afraid to spend money, 4.so the stores aren't making money and people are getting laid off, and then they can't afford to pay their taxes and it turns into a vicious cycle. 5.Homes are being foreclosed because the banks aren't giving mortgages. President Obama is printing new money and paying people stimulus money to try to get them out there spending money again...but it isn't enough. The auto industry has all but collapsed. The big thing on the TV commercials is "cash for clunkers" government subsidy of $4500. for any car under ten years old if you buy a new car.
  6. Most of the teenagers are having emotional problems, being bullied at school, and are still doing under-aged things that they really are not mature enough to handle.
  7. Health Care Reform, Cash for Clunkers (getting rid of old cars, gas guzzlers and the government giving up to $4,500 off of new cars to stimulate the economy)
