- Very important. I am against abortion but realize in the blue state I am in it will not change much. I prefer to address personal responsibility.
- well i live in a society. therefore social issues hit close to home
- Social issues are at the top of the list for me. I enjoy going to the bars with my buddies after work. I enjoy trying to meet girls at these bars. I enjoy going to New York Mets games at least once a week. I considered that a very worthwhile social cause. Socially I know I could do more but I'm finding it difficult as drinking to excess is frequently the common denominator of my social policy.
- very. But which one?
- I'd rank social issues at #1, because it's what affects me most. Foreign policy is important and all, but it's "over there." Social issues are here and now.
- From a federal government standpoint 1. National Security 2. National defense 3. Resolving issues between states. 4. Doing only those things that cannot be done by an individual first, or a state second. 5. Social Issues This order reverses at the individual level. Generally, if it is a government solution it is wrong.
- Not at all. I want to become a hermit.
- Social issues....which I prefer to call quality of life issues, are more important than anything else, as far as I am concerned. But, there might be differences of opinion among different people about what constitutes social issues. There are things in my list of quality of life issues that some people might not recognize as such, at first glance. For example: Some might not think of the Iraq war as directly effecting the quality of life. But, it does, because of all the tax money wasted on that war, and the families that are effected by the soldiers who are there instead of with their families, or even worse, the ones who are killed. Income tax is another issue, which might not be seen as so much a social issue, but it effects everyone, and I am so much in favor of replacing it with the fair tax....immediately! That I would march clear across the country if I thought it would actually make it happen. Other issues that are more recognizable are, Universal health care, and the honest living wage, and the immigration problem. There are quite a few issues that really need to be addressed, but I will not name them all here. *sm*
- Do you want to live in a place where crime is rampant or where the prosons are full or where you end up locked in your home after dark ? Do you want to live in a society where some have rights and others do not ? Do you want to be afraid of the police and government ? Do you want to walk by people in the streets with infectious diseases because they have no money to pay for care ? How could social issues ever be placed on the back burner ? The foriegn policy's of a nation must take 2nd place to the people of the nation We must have a just society for all - The protection of the weak the education of the children and the health of the people first in our mind - When this is dealt with we can ask how we should or can get along with our nieghbor
- Social issues are a subset of insuring domestic tranquility and promoting the general welfare. In that regard, social issues rank under establishing justice, providing for the common defense, and securing the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity.
