Would Israeli forces in Palestine be considered a social Issues?

I'm doing a project that is a global social justice issue or an environmental challenge. Ideas would include child labor in a specific country in the world, but that idea has already been taken by somebody in my class. I kind of want to do how israeli forces are preventing many palestinians from being able to go to school due to the Apartheid wall and the Israeli military. Would that be considered a social issue? If not, what are some other ideas? Thanks.

  1. well if you look at the CORE issue - we can see that someone (ie the British) took the land off palestinians and gave it to the Israelis. This means people who owned property legitamately - were forced to give it up. Hence why there is soooo much fighting. I mean - even the Roman empire knew it as Palestine. Look at maps just before World War 1 - there is NO israel - its Palestine.
  2. I would call it a crime rather than a social issue, one of many that Israel have committed.
  3. Israel, like any other country, has the absolute right to refuse entry into their country to any person they wish. The Palestinians have brought these measures on themselves by doing evil things and perpetuating hatred. Let the Palestinians live with the results of what they have done to themselves.
  4. Yes, that's a valid social issue. There are many ways to approach this particular issue. You could go into the history of the conflict itself, which would involve a good amount of reading and research. You could also look at the social and humanitarian conditions of the camps themselves. To do this, look at news articles about the occupation and its consequences, as well as websites devoted to the issue. The Palestinian refugee problem is definitely a social issue - it's complex and controversial, but there's a lot of material on it. Do some research online, you'll find plenty of news articles and sites dedicated to the issue. Good luck with your project.
