- I think it is 10 years.
- cant you just buy it yourself? why nick other peoples?? geez some people are so cheap and have no pride.
- English law? Do you mean you speak English, I speak English? I don't know. But if you don't own the land it really doesn't matter how long or what you have been doing on it. You don't own it.
- Twelve years
- you need to be able to prove that you have used it for 12 years without being challenged by the rightful owner.
- its 7 years same has squatters rights.because a squatter in london live in a house for 7 years and no one done anything about it and he claim it.and the house is worth a cool £400,000
- Hi, you need to go through the simple but tedious process of the land registry office Your deeds for the property & associated land will be on file. I have discovered, for eaxample, that a friendly neighbour has "knicked" about 1/3 of an acre ! I will not argue about it, but the paperwork clearly shows who owns what. As for using land, then if it is lying "fallow", i.e. not in use, then you can claim what amounts to squatters rights
- 5 years of open and hostile (that is the legal term but it doesn't mean your are aggressive) use and you must pay the property tax for all 5 years. 10 years if you don't pay the tax. You must document your use with photos or witnesses or receipts for fences.
- The length of time depends on which state you are in, however, all require that you were paying the property tax on the property in addition to living on it.
