Can you move out of the US and walk away from all debt and still receive your Social Security Retirement? My In-Laws are planning to move back to the Philippines next year and walk away from their house, cars and credit card debt. However their "plan" is to live off their retirement that they will be getting from Social Security and what they acquired while working for the Post Office. Can they get away with that? Im not a lawyer but this doesn't sound right to me. They seem to think it wont be an issue and they checks will continue to come.
I'm so tired with life. What should I do? Okay, first I'll describe myself. I'm a 17 year old guy who looks 13-14 years old (I get uneasy when people call tell me I look like a 13 year old). I'm currently a student graduating next school year. I belong to an upper class family in the Philippines. Sometimes, though, I just get the feeling that I'm tired with all the problems concerning my life (personal issues, mental health, government, family, physical health, etc.). Sometimes, it's like I'm just missing out on a lot of stuff since I'm living in a 3rd world country when I can do so many things (In my opinion, I think my parents limit my goals and dreams since they're too overprotective since I'm the youngest of 4 guys). I just wish I had the opportunity to just be on my own and have friends. But right now, I don't really have any real friends. It just sucks because everyone wants to be all "cool" and stuff. I mean, cool for me is okay, but when it gets out of hand like people NEED to be cool, that's where I really get pissed with those kinds of people. I'm just tired with dealing with these problems, mostly on social relationship issues with people. It just seems that nobody understands me. Okay, first of all, I'll admit I'm still immature (I mean, WTF, I'm still 17.). Second of all, I'm not really in the mood today to listen to sh!tty answers. And to LADY: I'm not some kind of popular kid who does anything reckless, okay? People say I analyze much even though I'm just 17. I'm not the type who's the "cool" one and gets drunk and wounds up getting addicted to drugs. To callmesally, I know there are people here in the Philippines who are poorer than me, and a lot of people say that I should be happier and blahblah blah. YES, I KNOW AND I ACKNOWLEDGE THAT I'M LUCKIER THAN MOST PEOPLE. But the point is that I'm dealing with my OWN life, and it sucks for me right now. (Don't give me those "You should be lucky, you're rich... blablabla." There's a difference about being rich and being happy, I know that. I'm in the upper class and I'm surely NOT happy. And, I think I'm more of the upper middle class. And, I think, compared to other countries, we generate income as much as a typical American family
Asia Pacific International Relation? I am planning to have my master in international relationship. What are the current issue of Philippines with other Asian or countries located in the Pacific region?
can The Philippines really be regarded as predominately Christian nation considering the following? According to the Department of Social Welfare and Development, anywhere from 60,000 to 600,000 streetchildren are victims of child prostitution. In fact, the Philippines ranks fourth among countries with the most number of prostituted children. A study by the Psychological Trauma Program of the University of the Philippines notes that prostitution may now be the country's fourth largest source of GNP. - UNICEF http://www.unicef.org/philippines/suppor... how does this issue facing this country relate with its over 90 percent christian/catholic population? USA's christian/catholic population is not as large as Philippines apparently is....so comparing USA is irrelevant christians who like to deny that catholicism IS a denomination of christianity are doing themselves no favours either... how is catholicism NOT a christian denomination? obviously this is a popular thing for christians to say because they are ashamed of the largest denomination in their religion....

Do you think the media hype reporting of HIV cases in the Philippines very alarming? Our government insist that the Philippines is a low HIV incident country and the media often reports that the Philippine government has concealed the extent of the HIV/AIDS problem. I don't usually believe in our government which concealed not only HIV incident but almost anything or everything that is happening in the country. Not only with HIV but also to hepatitis A & B. Several factors put the Philippines in danger of a broader HIV/AIDS epidemic. They include increasing population mobility within and outside of the Philippine islands; a conservative culture, adverse to publicly discussing issues of a sexual nature; rising levels of sex workers, causal sex, unsafe sex, and injecting drug use; high STI prevalence and poor health-seeking behaviors among at-risk groups; gender inequality; weak integration of HIV/AIDS responses in local government activities; shortcomings in prevention campaigns; inadequate social and behavioral research and monitoring; and the persistence of stigma and discrimination, which results in the relative invisibility of knowledge about HIV among the Filipino population is troubling. Approximately two-thirds of young women lack comprehensive knowledge on HIV transmission, and 90 percent of the population of reproductive age believe you can contract HIV by sharing a meal with someone. One of the growing problem is the lack of monitoring of migrant workers esp. our millions of OFW, myself included, that is coming in and out of the country. Our population is getting bigger through the years, that is why this is also causing our growth to stand still and our country is not that big either. While compare to China which has the biggest population on earth I suppose but their land area is tremendously huge compare to the Philippines. Probably it takes months to travel China's great wall back & forth. Is the Philippine media helping in the campaign against HIV or it is adding to the problem at hand. I myself think that our media is a tool that is helping us to shed lights on every topic and providing use answers where the government are shut and mum to give enough information to the public. What do you think? Tnx.

I'm 15. need help. family issues.? Okay so let's just get to the point. My dad (42years old guy) is currently cheating on my mom for the past 4 month with a 20 year old Philippine lady who still lives there and my dad, mom and I lives in U.S. I do have a sister but she ran away because of my dad and so did my brother. He constantly sends her money and don't really give a f u c k about what happens in our family. So, I haven't talk to him for a month or so because I just can't do it. Even though he does live under the same roof. My mom knows everything but for some odd reason she doesnt want to get a divorce. She's awfully blind and needs to wake up because: My dad does/is: -drugs [any you name it] -unemployed and steals my mom's money for the lady in philippines. -Disrespectful -wants everything his way -majorly strict [ to a level where he'll beat someone if we don't listen. -Liar -Cheater -Doesnt care about us. But yeah my mom is still in love and doesn't care for what's best for us. & that is to leave him. ..So last night my dad was making the biggest scene ever trying to make my mom and I to stay home and not go to the movies. EVERYTIME I ask him if I can go with my friends it's an automatic no. So I never go out anymore for the past 4 months. Unless it's with my mom. & For him to not let us go out to the movies together for the first time was so ridiculous. I don't really know what to do because I can't live like this anymore. I'm 15 and have friends and I'm trying to have fun. I was thinking of telling my social worker at school but I don't want them to do anything stupid that will make the situation worst. & I don't really want to run away because i don't want to leave my mom. But If I have to then I will. Any advice people? Please.

what do you think about this issue on the hydroelectric car? i learned this from my teacher in social science, that 10-15 years ago the hydroelectric car was invented by a Filipino but the Philippines didn't have the money to support his invention so he sold it to the Japanese, but what if it was supported and we didn't need to make use of oil anymore the economy of the people in southwest Asia would go down and the pollution would lessen but the people in s.w. Asia might start a war i don't know what do you think?, this is just my opinion.

Serious Migrant Problem? Serious Migrant Problem ‘There is no denying it. It is 1998 all over again. Political situation in the country is all fluid and turbulent. When this is coupled with a downward sliding world economic trend, the result would be a recipe for disaster, economic and beyond. I know, I have been writing mostly about politics and economy nowadays. For this round, I would like to briefly clarify my views on a somewhat social, but ultimately political and economic local issue which is swirling around us these days. And that issue is one which is abundantly familiar to all Sabahans, and which has been haunting us for the past thirty years or so. Yes, you guess it right, it is the illegal immigrants issue. I do not intend to provide a scholarly researched piece of work here, but just some basic and (I hope) unbiased points laying out my views. Money vs. Politics Let’s first distinguish between refugees and economic migrants. In 1970s and early 1980s, many Southern Filipinos rushed for their lives due to rampant civil wars in their homeland, and landed on the shores of Sabah. They were refugees fleeing political persecution in their homeland, and were recognised as such by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UMHCR), which set up an office in Sabah at the time to handle such cases as well as those of Vietnamese boat people (at least those who were refugees). Refugees are clearly protected by successive international treaties, and UNHCR arranged for their resettlements in third countries. There were, however, other groups of foreigners coming ashore to Sabah from then till now. They came from the Southern parts of Philippines and also various parts of the Indonesian archipelagos. Facing economic hardships in their homelands, they came to prospect for greener pastures in Sabah. In strict international-law terms, these were not refugees, but economic migrants, who were accordingly not protected as refugees. Arrival by Design And these economic migrants chose Sabah for several reasons. One was obviously the long and porous maritime and mountainous borders of Sabah, making undetected entries relatively convenient. Another, more insidious reason was of course the commonly known attempt by certain quarters during those politically unfavourable times to modify the population and voter structure of Sabah. It was thought that since these economic migrants were of a certain background and creed, they would of course be supportive of their “brethrens” of a similar creed and background. Hence there were all these stories of supposedly illegal immigrants getting ICs and local nationality. Open Secret Yes, openly saying the above may get me into trouble, for it is widely known in Sabah yet rarely do commentators dare to speak it up. But just as you thought the previous almost conspiratorial reason was the main one, you were actually wrong. There was yet another, even more unspoken but actually quite obvious reason for the arrival of these economic migrants. Our local labour market needed them in abundant quantity! Let’s face it. You walk into any coffee shop, the waiters and waitresses who serve you are most probably members of these economic migrants communities. This is not to mention the coffee-makers, cooks, dish washers and sometimes even cashiers! Added to that the workers at the construction site and in the estates, and you see why Sabah became such an attractive destination for these economic migrants. They formed essentially a grey market in the Sabah economy. Simple Math Yes, according to various sources, these economic migrants now make up more than half, if not more, of Sabah’s population. In fact, you don’t even have to quote sources. If you just make some simple calculations on Sabah’s astonishing population growth since Independence, you would inevitably come to either one of two conclusions. Either Sabah has experienced the world’s highest population growth rate – several times that of India or Bangladesh, for example, or we have “imported” a lot of people! But don’t forget, they came here almost at the constructive invitation of the then powers. Ask yourself frankly (as I asked myself too), when your ancestors came to Sabah a few decades or even centuries ago (there is no denying that we are ultimately all descendants of successive immigrants settling down in north Borneo), did they come with proper documentations? Yes, some members of these communities committed very heinous crimes, but some others were quite productive in their work, and generous in their spending. During several previous “operasi” to round up these economic migrants, my local friends who operated sundry shops complained about declining business! Switch of Allegiance But of course there are potential threats to national security. Do not forget, these economic migrants are (or were) mainly Filipinos and Indonesians. At times of exigency, despite their similar creed with the majority community in Malaysia, there is absolutely no guarantee of their allegiance to Malaysia. As they are now making up essentially the majority population in the state, what is stopping them from one day engaging in separatism and union with their motherlands? The authorities would be playing with fire in their hands if permissive attitude is continued with respect to the infiltration of these economic migrants. Of Street Kids… and Adults And then there were the sorry sights of the street children’s hanging around town, hawking and begging. They were mostly the second or third generations of those economic migrants. Many of them were born in Sabah, yet because of their parents’ non-refugee status, they became essentially stateless children left to wander around town. If they are left to roam the streets since young age without proper education, any wonder they would grow up to be toughened thugs who would haunt our beloved state? Forced repatriation is of course always an option, but it requires the cooperation of their countries of origin. But since most of these economic migrants were born and travel without proper documentations, their supposed countries of origins also have difficulties recognising and “absorbing” them back. And these countries of origins are obviously reluctant to “take back” those children born in Sabah of their nationals. You can’t just send these people by boat to international waters and push them down the seas and say, “Swim back to your country of origin!” That would both be inhuman and impracticable. As essentially a host country to these stateless children, we have an obligation to provide at least some of them with basic educational, nutritional and shelter needs. There are many locals who would argue that we don’t even have enough money to educate our own children’s in our somewhat decrepit educational system, what more to accommodate such “alien” children? Let the Experts Handle It! Well, there is at least a partial and temporary solution, but one with potentially beneficial implications. There are many international volunteer and aid organizations that were more than willing to take up the unenviable tasks mentioned above. If we cannot handle the basic needs of the stateless children ourselves, then we should open the door and welcome those mostly European and sometimes American non-governmental organizations handle them. These humanitarian groups usually have the passion, the expertise and the resources to accomplish such ardent tasks, and they have done it successfully elsewhere in the world, from Guatemala in Central America to Ghana and Gabon in Africa. Indeed, we have to bite the bullet and admit to the whole world that we had an essentially screwed-up migration policy and are now seeking to repair the damage done, and then humbly appeal for international help. Shame in Denial A partial solution such as the above is not perfect, but it is at least a baby step toward a more comprehensive solution when the time is ripe, such as when Sabah is prosperous enough that it would “coattail” the surrounding economies into comparable prosperity, thus reducing the incentives for these economic migrants to come ashore. There is no shame or loss of sovereignty in admitting wrongs and attempting to redress them. There is every shame and imminent loss of sovereignty in perpetuating the wrongs and denying them. Having worked in the humanitarian office of the United Nations, Ei Sun saw first hand the successful and not so successful implementation of various solutions for refugees and other types of displaced peoples around the the world. He hopes and is ready to help to ensure that his own beloved homeland would charter the right course in this regards. He welcomes feedbacks and suggestions at oh@ties.itu.int
Basics of impressing filipinos... Any cultural things I should be aware of? Hi, I'm dating a Filipina I met in college. Her father is an important man in the Philippines, and I'm supposed to meet him in a few weeks. Let's just say that even though I'm an American citizen, I'm certainly below her social class. I'm not broke, but high society is a bit beyond me. Of course, since this is a girl I love, I want to make a great impression on her dad. I usually do well, but I thought I'd ask if there are any cultural issues that I should pay special attention to. I know, for example, that Filipinos are very family-oriented in general and are known for being a bit tardy, so if he invites me over, I shouldn't arrive right on time. Of course, I've asked my girlfriend about all of this, and she says I'll do fine, but as a white American, I can't help but be a little nervous. Any advice? I know in many Asian cultures, it's considered proper to greet with a bow instead of a handshake, but I also know the Philippines is far more western than most other nations. Thanks! Well, to everyone who offered me advice, thank you very much. It's good to know that I should actually be on time no matter the cultural background of her family, and it's generally considered proper to eat whatever I'm served. As for the being myself, of course, but it's good advice, and I'm happy to hear it again. I just want to be myself in a way that doesn't accidentally cause mortal offense. Oh, and for those of you questioning her family's wealth, her dad was a former cabinet member... I can't name him because I think she'd tease me to no end about asking for advice here if she ever found out. But anyway, thanks again everyone! I really appreciate it, and I'll try to let you all know how it goes.
Who is willing to translate this into Tagalog? Brief Introduction of the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) 2004/05/17 1. Background of the Establishment of ASEM As cradles of the ancient civilization, both Asia and Europe have made great contribution to the progress of human civilization and the advancement of science and culture. But for a long time the Asia-Europe relationship was comparatively weaker in the triangular relationship between Asia, America and Europe. Since the end of the Cold War, the world has been moving towards multi-polarity and the economic links between various countries and regions have become increasingly close. In this context, both Asia and Europe are facing the urgent task of maintaining world peace and stability and promoting the economic development and social progress of the two continents through dialogue and cooperation. In such a situation, Mr. Goh Chok Tong, the Prime Minister of Singapore, advocated the initiative for an Asia-Europe Meeting in October 1994. 2.The Launch of ASEM The initiative for an Asia-Europe Meeting by Mr. Goh Chok Tong, the Prime Minister of Singapore, had received a positive response from relevant Asian countries and the countries of the European Union. The first consultation about the convening of ASEM was held in Brunei in July 1995 and was attended by the seven ASEAN countries (Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Philippines, Indonesia, Brunei, Vietnam) plus China, Japan, the Republic of Korea; and the Troika of the European Union (France, Spanish, Italy) plus the European Commission. Since then, the Senior Officials from Asia and Europe have held several meetings and reached consensus on some issues of ASEM I including the scope of participation for the ASEM . The inaugural Asia-Europe Meeting was held in Bangkok on 1-2 March 1996 and was attended by 25 countries from Asia, Europe plus the European Commission. The participating countries on the Asian side were Thailand, Malaysia, Philippines, Indonesia, Brunei, Singapore, Vietnam (seven ASEAN countries), China, Japan and the Republic of Korea. The participating countries on the European side were 15 members of European Union, namely Italy, Germany, France, Netherlands, Belgium, Luxemburg, Denmark, Ireland, Greece, Spanish, Portugal, Austria, Finland, Sweden, the United Kingdom plus the European Commission. It was a great event that the leaders from both Asia and Europe gathered for the first time to discuss matters of concerning cooperation between Asia and Europe. The meeting agreed that the ASEM Summit Meeting should be held every two years. The participating leaders explored ways for stronger ties and closer cooperation between the two continents. The main topics for the meeting are as follows: the significance of ASEM, the Asia-Europe cooperation in political, economic and cultural fields, and the follow-up activities of ASEM. The meeting adopted the Chairman's Statement after several rounds of consultations. 3. The Objectives and Principles of ASEM In accordance with the Chairman's Statement adopted by the ASEM I, ASEM should aim at forging a new comprehensive Asia-Europe partnership for greater growth; strengthening dialogue, understanding and cooperation; creating conditions conducive for economic and social development; and maintaining the world peace and stability. The ASEM process should observe the following principles: the dialogue among the participating countries should be conducted on the basis of mutual respect, equality, promotion of fundamental rights and in accordance with the rules of international law and obligations, non-intervention in each other's internal affairs; the process should be open and evolutionary, the follow-up activities to be undertaken should be based on consensus, enlargement should be conducted on the basis of consensus by the heads of State and Government; the process should enhance mutual understanding and awareness through a process of dialogue and lead to cooperation on the identification of priorities for concerted and supportive action. 4. Fields and Mechanism for ASEM Cooperation ASEM I agreed on a wide range of fields for the cooperation between the two continents. They can be divided into three aspects: (1). Political dialogue with focus on the issues of common interest. (2). Economic cooperation, which should be enhanced by intensifying the Asia-Europe cooperation in the fields of science and technology, agriculture, energy, transportation, human resource development, poverty eradication and environment protection; by promoting mutual trade and investment between the two continents and strengthening dialogue and cooperation on the issue of global trade system. (3). Promoting cooperation in other areas, such as the intellectual, cultural and people to people exchange and cooperation. The Senior Officials' Meeting (SOM) with most participating officials at the deputy ministerial level had played an important part in the process of the preparation for ASEM I. In accorda
How can you help your country to select leaders on coming up election in 2010? Pinoy Memories - Philippine President Marcos explains his "New Society" plan for the ordinary Filipino since declaring Martial Law through-out the nation on September 21, 1972. Martial law and the New Society: Proclamation of martial law - The spate of bombings and subversive activities led President Marcos to declare that "there is throughout the land a state of anarchy and lawlessness, chaos and disorder, turmoil and destruction of a magnitude equivalent to an actual war between the forces of our duly constituted government and the New People's Army and their satellite organizations...and that public order and safety and security of the nation demand that immediate, swift, decisive and effective action be taken to protect and insure the peace, order and security of the country and its population and to maintain the authority of the government." On September 21, 1972 President Marcos issued Presidential Proclamation No. 1081 placing the entire country under martial law but it was announced only two days later. In proclaiming martial law, President Marcos assured the public that "the proclamation of martial law is not a military takeover" and that civilian government still functions. Initial measures - In his first address to the nation after issuing Proclamation No. 1081, President Marcos said that martial law has two objectives: (1) to save the republic, and (2) to "reform the social, economic and political institutions in our country." In accordance with the two objectives, President Marcos issued general orders and letters of instruction to that effect: General Order No. 1 -- The President proclaimed that he should govern the nation and direct the operations of the Government, including all its agencies and instrumentalities, as Commander-in-Chief of all the armed forces of the Philippines; General Order No. 2 -- The President directed the Secretary of National Defense to arrest or cause the arrest and take into his custody the individuals named in the attached list and to hold them until otherwise so ordered by the President or by his duly designated representative, as well as to arrest or cause the arrest and take into his custody and to hold them otherwise ordered released by him or by his duly authorized representative such persons who may have committed crimes described in the Order; General Order No.3 -- The President ordered that all executive departments, bureaus, offices, agencies and instrumentalities of the National Government, government owned or controlled corporations, as well all governments of all the provinces, cities, municipalities and barrios should continue to function under their present officers and employees, until otherwise ordered by the President or by his duly designated representatives. The President further ordered that the Judiciary should continue to function in accordance with its present organization and personnel, and should try and decide in accordance with existing laws all criminal and civil cases, except certain cases enumerated in the Order. General Order No. 4 -- The President ordered that a curfew be maintained and enforced throughout the Philippines from twelve o'clock midnight until four o'clock in the morning. General Order No. 5 -- All rallies, demonstrations and other forms of group actions including strikes and picketing in vital industries such as in companies engaged in manufacture or processing as well as in production or processing of essential commodities or products for exports, and in companies engaged in banking of any kind, as well as in hospitals and in schools and colleges are prohibited. General Order No. 6 -- No person shall keep, possess or carry outside of his residence any firearm unless such person is duly authorized to keep, possess or carry any such firearm. Letter of Instruction No. 1 -- The President ordered the Press Secretary and the Secretary of National Defense to take over and control or cause the taking over and control of newspapers, magazines, radio and television facilities and all other media of communications for the duration of the national emergency. Letter of Instruction No. 2 -- The President ordered the Secretary of National Defense to take over the management, control and operation of the Manila Electric Company (Meralco), the Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company (PLDT), the National Waterworks and Sewerage Authority (Nawasa), the Philippine National Railways (PNR), the Philippine Airlines, Air Manila, Filipinas Orient Airways, and other public utilities. Letter of Instruction No. 3 -- The President ordered the Secretary of National Defense to take over the possession, control, operation of all privately owned aircraft and watercraft of whatever make bearing Philippine registry and to keep such under his custody for the duration of national emergency or until otherwise ordered by the President. Letter of Instruction No. 4 -- The President ordered the Secretary of Fore
Help with a Serious US Passport Dilemma? Last year, I went to the Philippines when my father passed away. I haven't used my passport since then (Sept. 07). I need to go back to the Philippines for urgent reasons and booked my flight for Jan 02, 09. I lost my US passport and I was applying for a new one when I looked at the required documents. My serious problem is here: I was born in the Philippines but moved to California when I was 1.I had a certificate of Naturalization issued only a couple months after I was born. I also had an expired US passport. However, my father hid all of these documents (including my social security card) for security reasons. I turned my house upside-down looking for any proof of US citizenship but have not found anything. I need to obtain my passport or at least a copy of my certificate of Naturalization ASAP. What do I do??? I gathered everything I could..employment stubs, high school records, elementary&middle school, etc. HELP PLEASE AND ThANK YOU!
What rule says that an F1 student on OPT will lose tax benefits and treaties if given a 1099 misc? Hi I am an F1 student from the Philippines. I have only been in the US since 2006 and have never left the country. I have never had any previous visits. I was on OPT during the 2009 tax year. My employer gave me a 1099 misc instead of a w2. My questions are: 1. What rule explicitly says "an F1 student on OPT being labeled as an independent contractor (received a 1099 misc) will lose his social security and medicare exemption"? I did some reading up on Pub 519 and saw the following: A. page 50; F1 visa holders are exempt from Social security and medicare taxes since our days of presence would be excluded from the presence test counting for residents. Notice that it specifies F1 visa holder and not independent contractor. B. page 51; F1 visa holders are exempt from self-employment tax. Notice how the provision specifies self-employment tax with regards to F1 students. 2. Why do people say that an F1 visa holder who "worked as an independent contractor" (received a 1099) will lose tax treaty exemptions? Reading up on the tax treaty between my country (Philippines) and the USA, I found this: A. Article 22 paragraph 1 of the Philippines US tax treaty -i don't need to pay taxes for any gifts of support -i don't need to pay taxes on any scholarships, allowance, or award -I have a $3.000 tax exemption from "Income from personal services performed". Notice that this direct quote says income and not wage from being an employee. Wouldn't this include the 1099 income since this direct quote says "income"? -------- If someone could show me the actual rule that says F1 visa holders who received a 1099 misc will lose all their international student benefits, that would be awesome. It would really clarify whether the whole issue is rule based or just a misconception. Thanks guys
Would a One Year FICA Tax Holiday be better than the Stimulus Bill? Obama has $787 Billion to spend. How will he spend it? That is actually the wrong issue -- why is this his decision to make? Why does he get to decide how we stimulate the economy? Doesn't that just run the risk of a political spoils system in which all his political pals get helped out with the money? How is that different from Sudan or the Philippines? Wouldn't a FICA tax holiday for a year 1 July 2009 till 1 July 2010 be more clean, more simple (about 9 lines of code), faster about 1/10,000ths of a second after the "Enter" key is hit, more progressive -- the lowest earning people are proportionately helped the most, and the most stimulative --a right there spendable cash in the paycheck, in the pocket, burning a hole in the pocket -- wants to get out -- let's go to the Mall ans spend it -- whee .. this economic stuff is easy. Effect on Social Security -- nill -- that whole system is completely fraudulent and doomed anyway, this just means it collapses in 13 years instead of 14 years, no big deal. Effect on the States -- nil -- no state taxes are involved -- just FICA. Effect on the working poor -- hugely excellent Effect on the middle class -- pretty darned good. Effect on the upper class -- you gotta be kidding nothing effects the upper class except maybe opening up those Swiss Bank accounts hahahaha! Overall effect -- pure genius! Overall effect of current scheme -- No one knows the current scheme -- but it looks like money down every liberal agenda item from the last 8 years that's been waiting in the wings -- ratholes every one -- social workers, parasites, teachers, f***brains, poor dear darling union members, vote getters for Obama, state service agency personnel (clipbpard people -- you will love it when three of them come to your door), teachers unions (did I mention them already?), anyhow you get my drift -- it's a porky porky drift -- a spoils system -- We won so here's cash for us -- all good friends here, right, oh so delish! We are the World -- We are the Stimulated -- Summer of Cash -- please come with flowers in your hair! The working stiff would get a spendable benefit, 60 seconds from now, in direct proportion to his/her earnings, which would go back out the door, by the end of next week, creating a multiplier effect bigtime. Maybe the Stimulus Bill needs a little amendment --so it's not the Obama is Cash Czar Bill -- it's more like a highly progressive, even-handed program, with no complications, can be done by turning a key and putting in 9 lines of code in 1/10,000th of a second, clean simple, workable, and fair, and very stimulative. That's the mission see? The idea is to get the mission accomplished. Nothing else is the idea. Not helping those who helped Obama. Not being politically correct. Not making a complicated flowchart. Not fixing the energy problems. Not pretending to great patriotic posing. None of that counts. Only the mission counts. The mission = Stimulate the Economy Now! Currently Social Security will go bust in 13 years. A one year FICA tax holiday would change that to 12 years from now. So, the fix is a $10 per pack cigarette tax, and for a similar amount of roll your own tobacco. Use 1% of this revenue to subsidize nicotene patches and oral inhalers. The other 99% goes for the Social Securty Trust Fund. That Fund also has to stop paying for anything other than the original Social Security insurance (no more SSI crazy money). The Medicare costs would be reduced by about 7% over the next 50 years by fewer expensive cancer cases to care for and treat with expensive drugs and surgery. The Southern Tobacco state politicians should simply be shunned by the entire Congress and government when they obstruct these provisions. Their bias is not a valid basis to decline good policy for the nation. America is worth more than all the politicians, and thus it is worth more than a few selfish ignorant biased politicians from the tobacco states.
I'm confused with myself.? I'm a 16 year old Eurasian. My Dad is German and my mom is Thai. My Dad was a Programmer and Entrepreneur . I used to have it all. I was a hardcore PC Gamer that time and was very autistic and anti-social keeping only to myself and my Dad. He was everything to me, and the Best Dad ever. He was all i needed. We had a terrible relationship with my mom and they argued almost everyday, i always consoled my Dad and he protected me when she argued with me for no reason. My dad's financial situation began declining until he passed away 3 years ago when i was 13 then my life really started turning around as if i was being sucked into a blackhole I immediately dropped into Poverty and moved back to Thailand in the countryside with my mom, and experiencing daily conflicts with her almost everyday without my Dad to protect me anymore. I was completely vulnerable to the world, especially not being used to live without the PC anymore. I attended a local school and was quite popular for the way i look but i never had any real friends, still being anti-social and missing my old life. I dropped out of school and ran away from home in 2008 to be with an American ex-partner of my Dad in The Philippines, who i treated like my own step-dad even though we have more of a boss-employee type of relationship but that didn't matter to me because i only wanted to move up now and pursue on the things i like with the goal to make back the things that i've lost, i just couldn't live with my mom anymore... Everything has been getting better now and it looks like i can finally see through the end of the tunnel to Success, however for a couple of months now i had emotional issue's and conflicts with my mind that no longer made me feel alive anymore. I feel 60 times older now ever since i left home, and it's as if i've already experienced all that life has to offer, with no urge to find anything else new, makes it really hard for me to concentrate and focus on things, procrastinating all day long, stuck with repetitive thoughts . I've always wanted to have at least one Real Friend that would understand me for who i am and be a good companion after my Dad's demise, but until today i am still a lonely person and trapped with my own misery. I am always afraid that something bad is going to happen to me someday no matter how great i am, i am more worried of getting a Brain Injury than being dead, i am totally confused of myself and who i am. Others would say that i'm smart and i know that i really do have a Talent for Computers as i can type 130 WPM per minute but i just don't feel alive anymore and brainless. What if i was just so smart and successful until one day i had a Car Accident with a severe TBI(Traumatic Brain Injury) or Alheimers disease then could i ever be the same anymore? It seems that all i really have to do is stay positive and focus on what i want to do but every few minutes or so these repetitive thoughts would come back again, whenever i get rid of one, another one comes and this short-circuits my attention. I exercise everyday and eat healthy meals but it's still not helping me. I just don't feel alive anymore, is it possible that i might be brain-damaged? How can i do to become myself again?
Which Girl Should I Choose if Any????? HELP!!!!!!? Ok , I know this story will sound fake as a $2 bill but it's very real. I don't have much of a social life, so over time I've talked to women mostly online and I even have visited a few adult sites and made friends with some webcam models. There are 2 models I liek and I think they like me but they are always busy working trying to get by. One girl is from europe and teh other from canada. The one from Canada I just met and we have a tone in common. I have gotten both their emails etc. I really like teh one from canda and shes very sweet , but she hasnt seen me cause she's mostly online when she works. I also have been talking to a webgirl from the philippines for about a year and shes really sweet. Maybe not the most beautiful girl, but shes extremely nice and supportive and unlike most filipina cam girls I have talked to in the past she doesn't hound me for money or ever ask for money . She's one of the few good ones , I think if we became a real couple We would rarely if ever argue, she's very submissive I think and very quiet, very thoughtful. But i have wondered about our distance cause she is so far and also I wondered like most guys maybe I can do better. I think maybe their is a lack of fireworks/pizzazz. But I do like her and I dont want to hurt her. She may like me the most. Now lastly, a friend suggested I join a free singles website so I did and I just met a girl from england who is a stewardess and she says she really likes talking to me even though we have just started chatting. i like talking to her too because so far she seems nice even they she may not be like the most beautiful girl, but i find her attractive, just not my ideal , so at the same time I kind of pull away . I try not to chat everyday. I think maybe I have a commitment issue at times. I guess I am always looking for the perfect 10 with a perfect personality. Also my life is so unstable now, I dont have a job, yadda yadda. But I'm not getting any younger either. I guess my dream girl would be a dark haired brunette or red head with glasses. With that said, an online friend from my past who is very nice and brunette has come back into my life after a very long absence and she is a dark haired brunette. She disappeared for ages ago claiming she lost her internet service, shes never struck me as a liar but we will see. I still have questions , couldn't she have emailed me at a library or net cafe? But i really like her. We've never met in person, but I like her and we have a lot in common. So what do I do??? I guess if i am going to be honest the girls I like most are the Canadian who is gorgeous and i have a lot n common with, The filipina girl who is sweet, and the Brunette who is sweet, i share lots in common with and could turn out to be my best friend. What should I do???? Who should I choose, or should I keep talking to them all until I can visit them and make a decision. should I let them know how conflicted I am? Perhaps if I had to pick one it would be the brunette cause we are friends and I think we had this odd connection, i think we both secretly like each other.
Comparing the Philippines...? If you were to compare the Philippines with other country, what would it be? ... in terms of Westernization... like a country that has been westernized and has the same current social issues as the Philippines, like 'colonial mentality,' 'economic or political instability,' etc... thanks... PS: If you have any links for more info, that would really help me a lot... thanks!!!

Can you give me a social issue that involves Social Science? Particularly on it's branches: Political Science Economics Psychology History Sociology Geography and Anthropology I wanna come up with a social issue that involves most of those categories/branches. If possible, all of the branches are involved or a social issue that is related to the Philippines. Thanks! :)
Christians, do you think this is acceptable? To name a person Jesus? Do you feel it shows disrespect to the Lord or something? I knew a Catholic guy from the Philippines named Jesus. Is this issue a moral/religious or cultural/social issue? I am of the opinion it is a cultural issue. I know it's pronounced different, but it's written as Jesus Back at you, yellow smiley Error#999, how does that become a pagan custom? Yellow smiley removed his answer. Yes, smiley was rude, wasn't he?
What was the impact of Rizal's philosophy for post colonialism Asian and Latino political thought? What was the impact of Rizal's writings for Asian and Latino political thought? Rizal was an influential polymath. Mahatmma Gandhi considered him as a precursor and he operated during the age when the Philippines together with the other colonies of Spain started gaining independence. His writings were also crucial for Malaysian and other South East Asian intellectuals who broke free from Western Colonialism. At a time when Europ ewas losing itself bloody war leaving the gate open for Pan-american independence. I think his writings were an elegant reflection of the social times. It delved into important issues such as Religous Imperialism, Cultural Subjugation, Abuse of native peoples, Economic Sabotage etc. How did it affect later Latino and Asian political thought?
From West to East: A Transition of Power? From West to East: A Transition of Power? It has been a long roller coaster ride for the world to take the path for economic recovery. Economists can't even tell a concrete duration when will the crisis ends. For past weeks, as the stock markets start to bounce back, currencies devalue the safe havens, US dollar and Japanese Yen, road to recovery is a common sentiment for all. Demand for commodities helps top exporting countries of commodities to gain back their losses. According to Bloomberg Television, it was on March 9, 2009 when the WORST day for the world economy reaches decade lows as plenty companies shut down their factories and plants to reduce expenses, this result to millions of people are losing their jobs around the world. "Developed World" is the undeniably the roots of this global fiasco, when the real state business in Wall Street headed to ground followed by the collapse of the Lehman Brothers in England in September 2008. It is a chain reaction, financial giants struggles which cause incipient countries to be affected. On the side of the eastern part of the globe, which most are still "DEVELOPING" , are also battered by this global economic downturn, however, it can be noted that there is at least lesser effect on them, except for Japan, Hong Kong and Singapore, - which until now is suffering from massive losses. There are speculations on the “transition of power” giving the throne to Asia. The idea starts when CHINA shows a rapid growth in their economy which is about 12.5%, compared to the western power which is 0 to 5% only. This gives analysts to project the world ranking by at least 20-50 years from now. If you do arithmetic, it shows that China will overcome today's economic giant -United States- which for now is almost three times larger than its runner up. -Japan. However, since the crisis began, developed countries experienced a negative growth, and a slowdown for emerging countries. There are two ways in computing the GROSS DOMESTIC PRODUCT (GDP), which made a long argument among economists, traders and analysts. 1. NOMINAL 2. PPP (purchasing power parity) However, nominal is the most commonly used for economists to make the ranking. The latter however is use in more technical comparison, since it includes the inflation rate, currency exchange and other vital information. For 2008, The ranking for the World's Top 15 LARGEST ECONOMY (GDP nominal) 1. United States 2. Japan 3. China 4. Germany 5. France 6. United Kingdom 7. Italy 8. Russia 9. Spain 10. Brazil 11. Canada 12. India 13. Mexico 14. Australia 15. South Korea We all know that GDP (Gross Domestic Product) is the sum of all goods, trades, products, investments, revenues of a country in a given time. It can be quarterly or annually. Above ranking is for year 2008. To determine the world's WEALTHIEST country, which I believe one of the standards to become "DEVELOPED COUNTRY" GDP will be divided by the total population. So for above the countries GDP 2008 will be divided by their total population on 2008(not only those who are in the workforce). The quotient will be their GDP per Capita. The quotient will then be assessed. If I am not mistaken, at least 25,000 should me met. Other standards include infrastructures, poverty rate, unemployment rate, political stability, well-regarded university, literacy rate, crime level, occurrence of natural disaster, sanitation and the likes. Comparison: Which do you think is wealthier? A country with total output of $1,000,000 with 1,000,000 people? Or a country with an output of $5,000 with 100 people? THAT'S IT! On recent news, however, China is regarded to save the world by years to come. While China is the 3rd largest economy in the world up-to-date, (surpassed Germany in late 2008), China remains a developing country, with low GDP per capita, high level of violation, and percentage of the population living below the poverty line. Outside Shanghai (its financial capital) and Beijing (country's capital) people are poor with lesser civilization. With its huge population, the country is one of the most densely populated that makes social issue beyond its border, and other contemporary issues towards its government, people, etc. (Ex. Bird Flu, and the Contamination of Milk) Hong Kong is an autonomous region of China. Trivia: China is one of the 1st or 2nd most populous countries in the world with at least 1.1 billion people making MANDARIN as the world's most spoken language than any ANGLOPHONE countries combined. (U.S, U.K, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Philippines etc.). However, English remains to be the supreme language of intellect, making English to be the international language, especially for business, spoken even by Chinese. But it’s rare to see American or British to speak Mandarin, isn't it? While China is said on its road to be the world's superpower, lots of criticisms and justifiable words are

The RNC has said that they're not going to officially make attacks on race and gender, but you can have other groups raise these concerns and it works to McCain's advantage. The other question here is how Obama and Clinton may tear themselves apart heading into the convention and the general election by raising all these questions about each other. They're provoking these implicit biases among the general electorate as we speak--and the Republican Party may not have to do much next fall. DiscussEnter Your CommentSubmit Member Comments Posted By: CANDIDATE_REPUBLICAN (April 25, 2008 at 4:17 AM) appeal to majority white population in usa by the reverend dr kamal karna roy , a gop contender of u s presidency 2008 electoral competiotion now in progress. white majority are possibly in sleep now. or they may may be unconmscious and possibly not in coma. pl do wake up. leadership of usa is going to be auctioned off to a female viz clinton mrs or a 1/2 black person who talks big without a bit of substance in this ethics and realities of usa. a woman president in usa is a very good idea. but u may not benefit from a woman leader of usa, who possibly was involved in whitewater real estate scandal which remained overed with scandalous mystery as the possible most corrupt in the deal hillary r clinton was not fully investigated as during the whitewater r/e investigations hillary was hiding or was covered in a clintonian first woman cloak. One top white house aide linked in above scandal was killed, or he disappeared by death or in a broader conspiracy he was removed from scene of investigations of said scandal many members of we the people lost millions in the deceiving operation of whitewater.reinvestigation is demanded to all law enforcement authorities of usa or stat of arkansas. only one thing i found of the investigatioins. illfamed hillary has been trying nowto steal fame among people by intending to be u s democrat president by causing public sentiment thatshe was woman and a woman presidentshoule b elected. The problem with hillary is she is doubtful, deficient in honesty and she is no proven leader to take as big responsibility of us president. a diffent story is for inability of barrak hussain obama. He is half black no doubt.. he is an opportunist without any question. he changed his religious faith from islam to christianity for privilege to hiself. He changed his nam, partly He changed his economic status by making ponzi crime deal of buying reidential hom with sweet_heart deal with a would be felon as alleged, now in jail and 199% sure he did not pay i r s taxes from illegal bargain for turning himself to be millionaire. Now he is trying to prove that he was leader likejfk or martin luther king jr . He is nothing but oratory magician He is a junk_patrio of usa. He needed clean up his face to show himself clearly to we the people. barrack hussain obama did hear sermon from rev wright which was apparently anti american_terrorist,s voice in usa. as religious leader wright could utter words against some oppressions of black community in usa. his talk was immune under freedom of expression and especillyu wright spoke in court of presumed god christ. But obama's fke renouncement of his 20 years of close relationship with rev right make obama a very devious man as he attended sermons , say , without feeling goo or bad about it whether patriotic or anti american. dump hillary or obama, white majority in usa , yu as a group in human civilization have been excellent selector or a leader like washington, lincoln, roosevelt of reagan, w , then why u sould pick up a counterfeit leader, who be a woman like hillary or black like obama. U could draft a better black person or a better woman to beyour leader if u find it harder to find an optimally good and talented patriot for the job of u s president . look around u may find a true leader for u. from 1. 20. 2009. Pl do not junk you future with sense o nobility to woman or a black.see below : DiscussEnter Your CommentSubmit Member Comments Posted By: CANDIDATE_REPUBLICAN (April 21, 2008 at 8:22 PM) 4.21.2008new york rev makhan lal ghosh , democratice reforms agent & asst to dr kamal karna roy , a gop presidential hopeful and demanding to be mr cleaner gop would be president of nov 4 scheduled election of 2008 if be held on schedule as prayers were made inthe 42+ usd court jurisdictions in most regions of usa to postpone u s presidential election of 2008 for massive corruptions by 550+ defendants during 2007-08 to harm. to pain . and to damage chances of winningof the rev dr kamal karna k roy as the u s gop candidate and nominee as the mr cleaner president of usa as and when it be held without corruptions in campaign;and prayers were made that u s house of repsentative appoint an interim u s president on jan 20, 2009 pursuant to misc laws in the u s constitution and federal laws on a prayer of usd court ourt suggestion for the appointrment to refil of void in the system if election is postponed. dr roy shall move to ifferent circuit courts of appeals if correctional measures are no approved or granted by courts and pursuant to u s constitution action shall follow u s supreme court in washington dc for appellate reriefs if not be available by lower ourts and circuit court of appeals.
