I was just wondering if you guys could help me out by giving me some lists of issues you're interested in or hear alot about lately (Please make them as current as possible...like issues that you hear about in the news ALOT) that are controversies worth debating. My goal is to explain the controversy so I can establish the different attitudes and perspectives on the issue. Any and all help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

ACORN has a long laundry list of criminal activities-Who do the bots think they're kidding defending crooks? http://www.rottenacorn.com Obama: ACORN WILL SHAPE MY AGENDA http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8vJcVgJhNaU&feature=player_embedded The same ACORN that is continually in trouble for voter fraud, the same ACORN that has pushed the subprime mortgage crisis that has destabilized our economy, is, in the words of Barack Obama, going to shape our national agenda. Stanley Kurtz asks if Barack Obama’s most important radical connection has been hiding in plain sight all along? Obama has had an intimate and long-term association with the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN), the largest radical group in America. If I told you Obama had close ties with MoveOn.org or Code Pink, you’d know what I was talking about. ACORN is at least as radical as these better-known groups, arguably more so. Yet because ACORN works locally, in carefully selected urban areas, its national profile is lower. ACORN likes it that way. And so, I’d wager, does Barack Obama. http://www.federalreview.com/2008/10/obama-acorn-will-shape-my-agenda.htm http://article.nationalreview.com/?q=NDZiMjkwMDczZWI5ODdjOWYxZTIzZGIyNzEyMjE0ODI=&w=MA== The Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN), describes itself as a community-based organization that advocates for low and moderate income families by working on neighborhood safety, health care and other social issues. ACORN has over 350,000 members and more than 850 neighborhood chapters in over 100 cities across the United States, as well as in Argentina, Canada, Mexico, and Peru. ACORN was founded in 1970 by Wade Rathke and Gary Delgado. Maude Hurd has been National President of ACORN since 1990. ACORN agitates for better housing and wages for the poor, more community development investment from banks and governments, and better public schools. ACORN pursues these goals through intimidation, demonstration, negotiation, legislation, and voter participation. They do the Alinsky. ACORN is made up of several legally distinct parts including local non-profits, a national lobbying organization and the ACORN Housing Corporation. ACORN lies when it says it is non-partisan, and always aligned with the Democratic Party on policy. ACORN is again up to its eyeballs if a formal program of voter registration fraud in their registration programs in a dozen battleground states, but in this election cycle, to a degree never before seen. This year, its voter registration efforts that have resulted in criminal investigations in a dozen states. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Association_of_Community_Organizations_for_Reform_Now ACORN's real genius is getting American taxpayers to foot the bill. According to a 2006 report from the Employment Policies Institute (EPI), ACORN has been on the federal take since 1977. For instance, ACORN's American Institute for Social Justice claimed $240,000 in tax money between fiscal years 2002 and 2003. Its American Environmental Justice Project received 100% of its revenue from government grants in the same years. EPI estimates the ACORN Housing Corporation alone received some $16 million in federal dollars from 1997-2007. Only recently, Democrats tried and failed to stuff an "affordable housing" provision into the $700 billion bank rescue package that would have let politicians give even more to ACORN. All this money gives ACORN the ability to pursue its other great hobby: electing liberals. ACORN is spending $16 million this year to register new Democrats and is already boasting it has put 1.3 million new voters on the rolls. The big question is how many of these registrations are real. http://online.wsj.com/article/SB122394051071230749.html?mod=rss_opinion_main Obama in his own words clearly acknowledged his close association with ACORN, his acceptance of ACORN's radical methodology and his appreciation for the support of the organization in his run for the presidency. ACORN also played an instrumental role in urging lenders to extend home mortgages to subprime borrowers, pushing charges against banks in the 1980s that their home lending practices amounted to "red-lining," in violation of the 1977 Community Reinvestment Act, according to a report published by Stan Liebowitz in the New York Post. In 1994, lawyer Obama, a graduate of Harvard Law School then fresh from his Project Vote! experience, represented ACORN in the Buycks-Roberson v. Citibank Federal Savings Bank case, in which ACORN pressed for Citibank to make more loans to marginally qualified African-American applicants "in a race neutral way." After obtaining a settlement in the Citibank litigation, ACORN used its subsidiary organization ACORN Housing, a nationwide organization with offices in more than 30 U.S. cities, to push the group's radical agenda to get subprime home buyers mortgages under the most favorable terms possible. The meltdown in subprime home mortgages has been widely regarded as a major c The meltdown in subprime home mortgages has been widely regarded as a major contributing cause of the current recession that officially began in December 2008 after two consecutive quarters of negative growth in gross domestic product, or GDP. During 2008, the Obama presidential campaign attempted to distance the candidate from ACORN voter fraud by arguing that the U.S. Department of Justice was on the same side of the Citibank case as was lawyer Obama, reflecting the Clinton Administration's determination to expand homeownership among the poor. "Barack Obama strongly condemns voter registration fraud or any other breach of election law by any party or group," Ben LaBolt, an Obama campaign spokesman, said in a statement,. as reported by the New York Times. While the Obama administration's $787 economic stimulus package did not funnel federal funds to ACORN by name, the bill signed by the president included some $2 billion for non-profit "neighborhood stabilization" non-governmental organizations. Some of those funds could be allocated to ACORN to buy abandoned or foreclosed homes in impoverished neighborhoods, with the intent to rehabilitate them for resale or rental. Votes Pushed to meet daily quotas and bullied by bosses if they didn't, Ohio ACORN workers faked voter registrations, signed up people more than once, and even paid off registrants to keep from being fired, its canvassers told The Post. "Every day, there was pressure on us. Every single day," said Teshika Elder, a Cleveland single mom of three who worked for ACORN this summer. "We had meetings every morning where they'd go over your quota; they'd yell at you if you were low," said Elder, 21. "They'd sit us down and say if you didn't do better, they'd suspend you They'd say, 'Try harder next time,' [and] if you didn't get it, you'd be fired." Desperate canvassers sometimes resorted to trading cigarettes, cash and food in exchange for registrations, according to Elder and two other former ACORN workers, Jaymes Sanford, 18, and Selvin Cunningham, 23. Some voters were signed up more than once, and said that worried -- or lazy -- canvassers sometimes filled out bogus cards. The three workers were all fired after they and a dozen other canvassers were identified in a Cuyahoga County Election Board probe as having turned in multiple registrations for the same voters. The board, which estimates it got more than 8,700 suspect cards -- with multiple registrations, bad addresses or phony information -- from ACORN has turned the matter over to local prosecutors. "It was just little stuff -- a dollar, a cigarette -- given to people so that they'd register," said Sanford, a former team leader. "People are scared of not making their quotas," he said. Obamabot why don't you track all their fraud at rottenacorn.com? You're just defending the indefensible. That is called being an IDEALOGUE where you have stopped listening to reason and fact.
Would someone plz post an Accomplishments BIO of OBama as I am of Hillary? This is only a short list of the good she has done, starting back in her early life. You can pull it up by bringing her history BIO up online. There is much much more. Early life Raised in a politically conservative household,[11] at age thirteen she helped canvass South Side Chicago following the very close 1960 U.S. presidential election, finding evidence of electoral fraud against Republican candidate Richard Nixon,[12] and volunteered for Republican candidate Barry Goldwater in the U.S. presidential election of 1964.[13] Her early political development was shaped most strongly by her energizing high school history teacher, who got her to read Goldwater's classic The Conscience of a Conservative[14] and who was, like her father, a fervent anti-communist, and by her Methodist youth minister, like her mother concerned with issues of social justice; with the minister she saw and met civil rights leader Martin Luther King, Jr. in Chicago in 1962. Rodham attended the 1968 Republican National Convention in Miami, where she decided to leave the Republican Party for good; she was upset over how Richard Nixon's campaign had portrayed Rockefeller and what Rodham perceived as the "veiled" racist messages of the convention That summer, she worked her way across Alaska, washing dishes in Mount McKinley National Park and sliming salmon in a fish processing cannery in Valdez (which fired her and shut down overnight when she complained about unhealthy conditions). Law school During her second year, she worked at the Yale Child Study Center,[34] learning about new research on early childhood brain development and working as a research assistant on the seminal work, Beyond the Best Interests of the Child (1973).[35][36] She also took on cases of child abuse at Yale-New Haven Hospital,[35] and volunteered at New Haven Legal Services to provide free advice for the poor.[ and volunteered at New Haven Legal Services to provide free advice for the poor.[34] In the summer of 1970, she was awarded a grant to work at Marian Wright Edelman's Washington Research Project, where she was assigned to Senator Walter Mondale's Subcommittee on Migratory Labor, researching migrant workers' problems in housing, sanitation, health and education;[37][38] Edelman would become a significant mentor to her.[38] In the late spring of 1971, she began dating Bill Clinton, who was also a law student at Yale. Early Arkansas years Rodham co-founded the Arkansas Advocates for Children and Families, a state-level alliance with the Children's Defense Fund, in 1977. For much of that time[81] she served as the chair of that board, the first woman to do so.[82] During her time as chair, funding for the Corporation was expanded from $90 million to $300 million,[70] and she successfully battled against President Ronald Reagan's initial attempts to reduce the funding and change the nature of the organization. Clinton appointed her chair of the Rural Health Advisory Committee the same year,[83] where she successfully obtained federal funds to expand medical facilities in Arkansas' poorest areas without affecting doctors' fees. In one of the most important initiatives of the entire Clinton governorship,[92] she fought a prolonged but ultimately successful battle against the Arkansas Education Association[92] to put mandatory teacher testing as well as state standards for curriculum and classroom size in place.[92] She introduced Arkansas' Home Instruction Program for Preschool Youth in 1985, a program that helps parents work with their children in preschool preparedness and literacy.[94] She was named Arkansas Woman of the Year in 1983 and Arkansas Mother of the Year in 1984. First Lady of the United States When Bill Clinton took office as president in January 1993, Hillary Rodham Clinton became the First Lady of the United States, and announced that she would be using that form of her name.[116] She was the first First Lady to hold a post-graduate degree[117] and to have her own professional career up to the time of entering the White House.[118] She was also the first to take up an office in the West Wing of the White House:[48] the First Lady usually stays in the East Wing. She is regarded as the most openly empowered presidential wife in American history, save for Eleanor Roosevelt.[119] Along with Senator Ted Kennedy, she was the major force behind the State Children's Health Insurance Program in 1997, a federal effort that provided state support for children whose parents were unable to provide them with health coverage. She promoted nationwide immunization against childhood illnesses and encouraged older women to seek a mammogram to detect breast cancer, with coverage provided by Medicare.[140] She successfully sought to increase research funding for prostate cancer and childhood asthma at the National Institutes of Health. The First Lady worked to investigate reports of an illness that affected veterans of the Gulf War, which became known as the Gulf War syndrome.[48] Together with Attorney General Janet Reno, Clinton helped create the Office on Violence Against Women at the Department of Justice. In 1997, she initiated and shepherded the Adoption and Safe Families Act, which she regarded as her greatest accomplishment as First Lady.[48] As First Lady, Clinton hosted numerous White House Conferences, including ones on Child Care (1997),[141] Early Childhood Development and Learning (1997),[142] and Children and Adolescents (2000),[143] and the first-ever White House Conferences on Teenagers (2000)[144] and Philanthropy (1999). Hillary Clinton traveled to 79 countries during this time,[146] breaking the mark for most-travelled First Lady held by Pat Nixon.[147] In a September 1995 speech before the Fourth World Conference on Women in Beijing, Clinton argued very forcefully against practices that abused women around the world and in China itself,[148] declaring "that it is no longer acceptable to discuss women's rights as separate from human rights"[148] and resisting Chinese pressure to soften her remarks.[146] She was one of the most prominent international figures at the time to speak out against the treatment of Afghan women by the Islamist fundamentalist Taliban that had seized control of Afghanistan.[149][150] She helped create Vital Voices, an international initiative sponsored by the United States to promote the participation of women in the political processes of their countries. Traditional duties Clinton initiated and was Founding Chair of the Save America's Treasures program, a national effort that matched federal funds to private donations for the purpose of preserving and restoring historic items and sites,[184] including the flag that inspired the Star Spangled Banner and the First Ladies Historic Site in Canton, Ohio.[48] She was head of the White House Millennium Council,[185] and initiated the Millennium Project with monthly lectures that discuss futures studies, one of which became the first live simultaneous webcast from the White House. Clinton also created the first Sculpture Garden there, which displayed large contemporary American works of art loaned from museums in the Jacqueline Kennedy Garden.[186] Senate election of 2000 Clinton has served on five Senate committees: Committee on Budget (2001–2002),[203] Committee on Armed Services (since 2003),[204] Committee on Environment and Public Works (since 2001),[203] Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (since 2001)[203] and Special Committee on Aging.[205] She is also a Commissioner of the Commission on Security and Cooperation in Europe[206] (since 2001).[207] Following the September 11, 2001 attacks, Clinton sought to obtain funding for the recovery efforts in New York City and security improvements in her state. Working with New York's senior senator, Charles Schumer, she was instrumental in quickly securing $21 billion in funding for the World Trade Center site's redevelopment. She subsequently took a leading role in investigating the health issues faced by 9/11 first responders.[211] Clinton voted for the USA Patriot Act in October 2001, as did all but one senator. In 2005, when the act was up for renewal, she worked to address some of the civil liberties concerns with it,[212] before voting in favor of a compromise renewed act in March 2006 that gained large majority support.[213] As a member of the Senate Committee on Armed Services, Clinton strongly supported military action in Afghanistan, saying it was a chance to combat terrorism while improving the lives of Afghan women who suffered under the Taliban government. TAKE NOTE: "should such action be required" Now those who go on about her vote can eat crow!!.... Clinton voted in favor of the October 2002 Iraq War Resolution, which authorized United States President George W. Bush to use military force against Iraq, should such action be required to enforce a United Nations Security Council Resolution after pursuing with diplomatic efforts. In late 2005, Clinton said that while immediate withdrawal from Iraq would be a mistake, Bush's pledge to stay "until the job is done" is also misguided, as it gives Iraqis "an open-ended invitation not to take care of themselves. Clinton voted in 2005 against the confirmation of John Roberts as Chief Justice of the United States,[220] and in 2006 against the nomination of Samuel Alito to the United States Supreme Court;[221] both were confirmed. In 2005, Clinton called for the Federal Trade Commission to investigate how hidden sex scenes showed up in the controversial video game Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.[222] Along with Senators Joe Lieberman and Evan Bayh, she introduced the Family Entertainment Protection Act, intended to protect children from inappropriate content found in video games. In March 2007 she voted in favor of a war spending bill that required President Bush to begin withdrawing troops from Iraq within a certain deadline; it passed almost completely along party lines[234] but was subsequently vetoed by President Bush. In May 2007 a compromise war funding bill that removed withdrawal deadlines but tied funding to progress benchmarks for the Iraqi government passed the Senate by a vote of 80-14 and would be signed by Bush; Clinton was one of those who voted against it. Clinton has enjoyed high approval ratings for her job as senator within New York, reaching an all-time high of 72 to 74 percent approving (including half of Republicans).

what does feminism mean to you? I'm asking this because I'm seeing a lot of anti-feminist talk on here. I think its about how people view feminism and how they understand it. What a lot of people don't realise is that there's a few different versions of it. (liberal, radical, post-modern) and even then there's individual differences. for me, Feminism means the following: everybody, regardless of gender, has a right to choice and the right to an opportunity to make these choices for themselves. for me its about social justice and human rights. I do not believe that most men are rapists. Most of my friends are male. I am not a man-hating person, and I'm not a lesbian. I see that women, even though its legislated that equality exists, are still not in a position of equal standing. Men certianly have their share of issues as well, and I do not deny that there are some cases where females are privelaged (eg custody battles). But statistically, women are assaulted and abused more, including sexual, physical, financial, religious and emotional abuse. Women are paid 16% less than men are for the same job. Childcare and maternity leave (since a woman is most often expected to be the primary caregiver, although this is beginning to shift) are not readily available to a lot of women. My list could go on to be a very long list indeed. so what do people think feminism actually is? Added: Its interesting watching peoples viewpoints here. I'm not sure I clalarified what meant exactly : the following quote " freedom from having one's gender counted against oneself" should be in there! I call it feminism because what I want is equality within the law AND within the social action on the law. and when I referred to choices I mean having a freedom of choice in how you live your life so long as it does not impinge on anyone elses freedoms. does that make more sense? ugh, I keep forgetting to put points in... I want equality through the law and through societies attitudes, and as women are currently not equal, pushing for rights to be socially acknowedged is what needs to be done. and as I said, most of my friends are males. My best friend is a man. I'm straight. I'm not a millitant extreme left wing lesbian femenazi.
Should the list of mortal sins (6th Century) now be given a makeover? Monsignor Gianfranco Girotti heads the Vatican body that issues decisions on matters of conscience. He thinks the seven deadly sins should be updated to take into account modern developments such as genetic modification, experiments on humans, pollution, causing social injustice, causing poverty, taking drugs and obscene wealth. Father Antonio Pelayo is a Vatican Analyst. He says the view of sin needs to be broader. "We're too obsessed with the sin of sex - it seems that you can only sin sexually," he said. "Instead, there many other sins that are perhaps much more grave that don't have anything to do with sex, that have to do with life, that have to do with the environment, that have to do with justice." http://au.news.yahoo.com/080310/21/163uy.html?f=mv
Complicated Q: Can ne1 give me a rational scenario for our future world? (w/ a bit of idealism)? Q2) Do you think capitalism can be reformed? I do not have a strong background in economics or history, my major is in geology (Please don't go go into mining :P). BUT what I find that I am passionate about is social justice. I try to be an active "global citizen" by educating myself on the state of other countries, especially developing nations, global health etc and what is being done about it. I try to buy fair-trade products but sometimes I do go into Wal-Mart because as I student, I am not loaded! I know a lot of my friends don't really care about this. Let's say - out of my whole facebook friends list, 5 would only really care about what's going on in sub-Saharan Africa. I am constantly struggling with my decisions and I feel frustration when I think about the world as whole. For example, I bought a designer purse that's really good quality not really for the trends but for the overall look and durability. Now, did that bag have to cost so much? I had to save up for it. Or what about Manhattan apartments that cost the same as my tuition! I am aware about some global movements for change. And I really doubt that megacorporation dudes all over the world will agree to reform their budgets so they won't have money to buy another yacht at the end of the fiscal year... just an example. I know this is a complicated issue and again please be aware that I don't really have a strong background in the various subjects I touched upon. So for those that could shed some light, what do you see for the future - I really want to know what a possible future world could be eg: What if the social justice movements happen to convince everyone to think globally and build small "empires of global citizens", what will happen to the developing nations, and what will happen to the big cosmopolitan trading cities of the world? I know the ideals will never be met, but do you think you could possibly give a rational yet a bit idealistic situation of where the world is heading? I thought I would go over the character limit by writing "anyone"! jeez...
What would you report in this case, if you were an organizational behavior consultant? I am gonna talk about the manager of a firm, Dr. Dende: You have noticed that Dr. Dende is a terrible manager who does not provide direction as to the daily tasks of agency personnel. He does not provide personnel with the basic necessities to perform their jobs, bends all of the rules, does not trust any employee, has terrible leadership skills, is always late, takes personnel papers and leaves them in a box on the floor in his office, and spends all day on the telephone. Dr. Dende receives several telephone calls from Presidents of large corporations who are on the list of corporations to be investigated. In addition, Dr. Dende does not believe in organizational justice, ethics, or corporate social responsibility. Additionally, Dr. Dende believes that perceptions of employees are really people suffering from personality problems. Further, Dr. Dende also believes that people who allow their emotions to result in stress should be fired. He does not believe in a diversified work force and has stated so. He also does not care about job satisfaction, organizational commitment or if employees learn anything new on the job. Dr. Dende stereotypes everyone based on old beliefs and values. Several employees have overheard him expressing stereotypical and prejudicial views of several employees. He does not believe in the U.S. workforce being viewed as a “tossed salad” and refuses to embrace or celebrate differences of all employees. He believes in assimilation. It appears that Dr. Dende abuses his power and despite Dr. Culbreth being an exceptional leader and professional, she has been unable to have Dr. Dende removed from his current position due to the fact that she is required to follow protocol and provide documentation of concerns. Dr. Dende refuses to embrace the coaching initiatives implemented by Dr. Culbreth, and finds female employees only suited for clerical duties. He also resents the fact that Dr. Culbreth was appointed as director of the Agency. You recently overhead Dr. Dende state that if he continues on the path that he is on, the agency will fall apart, Dr. Culbreth will be removed as director, and he will be appointed as director. He is sabotaging Dr.Culbreth’s work. His ability to lead as an ethical leader is invisible and he does not hold employees accountable or to ethical standards. He believes that social responsibility and ethical issues are for weak minded people to worry about. The employee morale is an all time low and Dr. Dende does not believe in employee motivation. There is a major problem with work projects being sabotaged, high incidents of employee theft, and too many aggressive behavior issues. In addition, the organization is constantly dealing with affective and process conflict issues. consider that you can't just fire him without a proper detailed report stating his behaviors and what those behaviors might cause... So, I need to know how to write my report with a few ideas from you, please. Thanks
Do you find this to be SHOCKING Utah Emulates Nazi Strategy Hitler Started Campaign Against Jews With Lists? Utah may be diving head-first into a “race to the bottom” with Arizona to make the state as frightening as possible for people who look or sound “foreign.” Last Monday, a group calling itself “Concerned Citizens of the United States” issued a list of 1,300 Utah residents it claims are illegal immigrants. The list of Hispanic names, birth dates, workplaces, addresses, phone numbers and Social Security numbers was sent to law enforcement agencies and news media demanding that those included be deported immediately. Women who are pregnant are noted along with their exact due dates, and the list specifies that steps should be taken for their immediate deportation. The names of children are also included in the list. The accuracy of the list is dubious, reflective of the myth-making that often fuels anti-immigrant sentiment. By Wednesday, at least two women on the list and contacted by the The Salt Lake Tribune reported that they were actually in the country lawfully. In a letter accompanying the list, the unidentified authors chillingly state that they have been observing the individuals in “our” neighborhoods, streets, stores, schools and public welfare buildings. They claim additional information was obtained through infiltrating the “social networks” of those identified. New lists are promised on a continual basis, presumably until every last “illegal” has been hunted down and many thousands of innocent people have been spied on and harassed by vigilantes. Notably, these anonymous “Concerned Citizens” make no effort to account for their own identities or the legality of their collection and dissemination of personally identifiable information. On Friday, state officials announced they have identified two Utah state workers who illegally accessed state databases to help compile this list. They’ve been put on administrative leave. Attorney General Mark Shurtleff promised an “immediate, aggressive, formal investigation.” The ACLU of Utah commends the swift action of Gov. Herbert and AttorneyGeneral Shurtleff in responding to investigate the release of private information once the list became public. It was critical that many senior state officials and legislators spoke out againstthe breaches and intimidation tactics. These security breaches also make clear that the government must do a better job of restricting access to and protecting databases containing such highly personal information. While this list is a disturbing new development, this apparently private action is symptomatic of what has been frequently condoned by government – This racial profiling, is swelling beneath the tourist-friendly, family-values face that Utah presents to the rest of the World and nation. State legislators have promised to introduce a bill modeled on Arizona’s S.B. 1070 in the upcoming legislative session, drawing encouragement rather than discouragement from the Justice Department lawsuit challenging Arizona’s law. In 2008, Utah passed an omnibus anti-immigration bill, S.B. 81. Arizona’s new law has Utah and some other states wondering how they can copy it and make things even worse, and Gov. Herbert has signaled that he will sign yet another ill-conceived immigration bill. Hopefully Utahns realize, as their leaders now seem to do, that the list went too far. The anonymous compiling of personal information and the watchful, spying eyes of vigilante groups is cowardly and antithetical to long-established American ideals of liberty and individual sovereignty. In a few weeks, Gov. Herbert is convening a roundtable of Utah legislators and community leaders to discuss immigration. This is the right time to responsibly address the intimidation and rising fears of a significant and diverse part of Utah’s population. Rather than follow Arizona’s lead to the bottom, Utah can shift course to reclaim its reputation for compassion, integrity and a respect for all. http://lezgetreal.com/2010/07/shocking-utah-emulates-nazi-strategy/comment-page-1/
What steps did the UPA government take in the last 5 yrs to counter forcible conversions? Or do they actually neglect this issue and consider it insignificant? Isnt this a social menace? Isnt this creating polarization of the society eventually leading to an outburst in the form of riots? Isnt this the root cause of animosity between even the good hindus and christians in the society? There are a hundred reasons why congress cannot be secular but if i can include this one among them then this may top the list. "Inaction due to votebank issues is a failure because the government will be seemingly controlled by votebanks rather than Dr manmohan singh". Popular phrase: "Justice delayed is justice denied" & when the justice is denied, it creates a negative environment in the society which eventually acts like a pressure cooker waiting to burst out. What do you say? Fellow Indian citizen? V: What a great find (Website)! This is perhaps an open war on ethnic groups! Oh my gosh!

Abuse, Adoption and Lots of Questions? http://taxdollars.freedomblogging.com/2010/03/08/adoption-gone-awry-launches-couple-onto-child-abuse-list/52663/ I came across this article this morning and it made me wonder about several things: 1. Do you feel that the actions of the AM (cutting the AD's hair as punishment) should be considered abuse - why or why not? (I also wish I knew how well the APs were educated about their AD's history and issues, but on the other hand, the APs are relatively well educated in a general sense and work in the medical and law enforcement fields...) 2. Do you think the APs received "special treatment" due to their job statuses? 3. "We got off their list, but there are a lot of people out there who don’t have the resources we have,” Bette said. “ They don’t’ have a husband who’s an attorney, they don’t know what the law is. To me, it’s a really sad state of affairs when your liberties are taken away from you and you have no recourse. We want the public to know that this situation exists. Is there anyone else who’s been in this situation?” Do you feel that this statement applies could apply to some biological parents also? What do you feel should be the recourse for people who have been "bullied by the system"? 4, The APs lawsuit against DSS states: “This case amounts to an unconstitutional abuse of power by county social workers and county policies that both violate and demonstrate a deliberate indifference to the constitutional rights of Plaintiffs, parents and others who work with children. County social workers, acting as judge and jury, and without meeting any burden of proof, have the ability and authority to arbitrarily and falsely stigmatize individuals as ‘child abusers’ and without providing any pre-deprivation procedural due process, then blacklist their names by reporting them to a central registry maintained by the California Department of Justice without prior notice or an opportunity to be heard. In doing so, the (county and state) trample on the constitutional rights of parents to raise their children and maintain family integrity, do irreparable damage to the reputations of those stigmatized as child abusers, deny them procedural due process guaranteed under the 14th Amendment and ultimately harm the very children the defenders are supposed to protect.” Do you agree or disagree with these statements and what kind of impact could this have on the way we handle abuse cases? 5. What would you change about the way the system works to prevent issues like this? How can we best balance protecting abused children and ensuring sure the system is not being heavy handed towards parents? I will be ruminating on these questions today and I'd love to hear your opinions on any or all of these questions if you have the time. Thanks! ETA: I guess I should add that I DO feel that cutting a child's hair as punishment is indeed abusive.
Here are my reasons not to vote Obama, can you give me reasons to vote Obama? This is a list that I personally have compiled over the course of the last couple of weeks. Richard- I appreciate your openess, thank you. As far as points 11 and 12, research macroeconomic theory and you will find what it is that I am speaking of. There was however an attempt in relatively recent history to implement the same type of policies - commonly called restrictive- the individual at the helm at that point was Pres. Carter. Prior to that, we have another example for which the similarities are striking- we affectionately know this period as 'The Great Depression'. Though there are some, few, that would argue, it is generally accepted that the depression was prolonged due to the restrictive policies followed by FDR. Richard- just an additional side note regarding number 13. I have to assume that since you are in disagreement with 11 and 12, 13 would pose a problem as well. To understand the implications of number 13 you would need to look up microeconomic theory. Richard- your link is in regards to deficit spending. I would argue as would most economists, that there are some inherent benefits in regards to deficit spending, but yes, there are limitations as well. Points 11, 12, and conversely 13 are in respect to restrictive policies. Let’s put it this way; if you as an individual have just found out that your taxes are going to increase lets say 10%- the monies that you take in are going to decrease as well right? OK, so if you have 10% less money coming in, then it would be reasonable to expect that you would reduce the money going out on items not necessary right? Well, business is the same way. If business tax goes up then business is required to reduce costs to maintain profitability. Reducing costs for business may entail; reduced work force, less investment (infrastructure). This reduction results in reduced revenue (tax), higher unemployment. I have read reports regarding Senator Obama’s tax proposal and barring any unknown disclosures; the top 5% of earners would be taxed at a rate of 49-50%. In economic speak, this incentivizes that these earners would now transfer earnings to localities where penalties are not as great- in English, these people/ businesses would move their operations to countries that would allow them to keep as much of their profits as possible. Look at auto manufacturing as an example, the rustbelt states were taxing at such a high rate, that many manufacturers have moved to states or even countries with lower tax rates. Richard- I'm not making the claim that these individuals will move residence, but merely the home country of said business entity. Now this may entail a physical move or a paper move. Recently Senator Obama has referred to 1000 corporations having headquarters in one building in the Bahamas- I believe. This example is exactly what I am referring too. If the fed increases the incentive for businesses to move off-shore or even relocate, then tax revenue does in fact decrease. There is an overwhelming amount of historical data supporting this assertion and no, that I am aware of, data that would disprove it. I have been in the business world for twenty years and have watched the ebb and flow of business practice. The one constant has been that a correctly run business will by whatever means possible, try to remain profitable. One last bit of data, and this being purely anecdotal; During the 80's Michigan state and local governments began raising taxes. The assumption was increased tax revenue. What actually happened was that many businesses found that even with the loss of existing facilities, it was more beneficial for them to relocate and sell assets in Michigan. Many other businesses didn't have that opportunity and went into foreclosure. I, like many Michiganders, was forced by taxation and loss of jobs to move from my home. Prior to all of this, many Michigan communities were experiencing revitalization. Policies however quashed this growth. In fact, Michael Moore got his start there because of a film he did called "Me and Roger". Though a purely one sided view, it was the story of the death of Flint Michigan- and yes, I did live there at the time. If memory serves me correctly, Flint held the record for per capita murders during that time. So increased taxes do have affects- but are we ready for them?
How is my dad getting away with not paying child support, and how can i get him to pay or thrown in jail? My dad has been skipping out on child support payments on 4 kids for some time now. I haven't seen him in almost 3 years and it is like he just disappeared off the face of this earth. He was paying for a short time, abruptly stopped, and then never heard of him again. The attorney generals say that they cant find him. i know the jist of his where-a-bouts through online searching websites and a family friend who works for the state that was able to uncover a residental address. If my friend was able to do uncover this address, why wasn't the attorney general? Wtf is up with that? Seriously? when i used a search engine to search for his residental address 2 people came up. they are both definetly him, and i know this, because listed under each name it shows his former spouses name (my mom) and his relitives. There is only one difference between these two people is their age. one is 38 (real age) and one says he is 89 (false age). these are definetly the same people due to the spouses' name. the relatives listed, and old residences listed that i used to live with him at. (the same basic information occurs or both of them except his age) How is he falsifying information? Could he be using a different social security number? like changing one digit to avoid child support from being taken out of his monthly paycheck? or is there some other way he coud be doing this? From what i know he has a job at the time (hear-say from his side of the family), so how is he avoiding this? Do you have any ideas on how i could find them.(although i do have an address not sure if its acurate) when i do find him how do i prove he has a job and is not paying? Do i do a stake out and take pictures of him at work or what? Atm he owes us about $10,000 in back child support. We are struggling with monney bad. We recently had to move in with a close relative because we could not support ourselves. Im afraid my mom doesnt push this issue with the attorney generals often enough, so it seems im going to have to address this issue. Im tired of this. He has fucked us over in everything i want Justice to be done! how can i get him to pay child support or get him thrown in jail? his family is also helping him hide his where-a-abouts so can they get in troube for this too? i know i have a lot of questions, if you could even answer one of them it would be a great help. thank you.
Can someone help me with my debate speech for Lincoln-Douglas debate? (read for rough draft)? I'm doing Lincoln-Douglas debate and the topic is: "Public High School students ought not be required to pass standardized exit exams to graduate." AFFIRMATIVE VP Justice VC Equality CI Standardized exit exams test skills unfairly. a. passing an exit exam does not equal a great career or success b. Nicolas Cage dropped out of high school and is now a multi-millionaire CII Students are more focused on different things. a. one student may play sports and spend more time at practice then at home studying b. another student may not do any extra-curricular activities so they would have more time to study giving them an unfair advantage over someone who goes out and gets involved. CIII Some schools are more priveleged than others. a. Schools with minorities tend to be under priveleged. This means the students may not have access to the proper learning materials, therefore they wouldn't learn as much b. school funding can also be an issue because schools with less funding cannot pay good teachers and get the proper textbooks while schools with more funding can. The points I have listed show how un-equal things can be when it comes to education, so forcing all public high school students to pass the same exit exam would not be just. NEGATIVE VP Social Equality VC Fairness CI Standardized tests ensure that everyone has basic skills needed for everyday things. a. the tests are set low enough that everyone can show that they have basic skills such as reading, writing, and math b. the tests allow someone to show that they have the basic skills required for any job, and with extra knowledge they can work their way up to better jobs CII All students take the test, so it is fair a. there are no biases because it only questions basic things that everyone has the ability to learn b. it is required for all so no one get's an easier or harder way of graduating The points I have listed show how exit exams are fair and are basic enough for any student to know the information and allow everyone to be equal. Does this seem good? Are there any more points or philosopher's quotes I can add in? Are there any points I should drop because they aren't good? Thanks so much in advance!
Does a candidate past effect their ability to obtain a clearance? Imagine for a moment you are an investigator responsible researching Obama's past so he can get a security cleance. You are provided the infomation listed below. Please tell me if you would grant Obama a security clearance in light of his associations and background? * Your candidate has used more than one name. * His original birth certificate is unavailable. * He was mentored during his youth by a high level communist in Hawaii. * You receive a 3 page 'dossier' on Frank Marshall Davis. * You also learn the candidate was proctored into an elite Eastern private university by a Middle Eastern Muslim. * You receive a short dossier on Khalid al-Mansour. * You learn the candidate has terrorist organization 'Nations of Islam' employees on his current staff, and one of his advisors is a member of the global terrorist group 'Muslim Brotherhood.' * You read both books, highlighting the anti-American, anti-white racist passages. *You note the admissions of drug use. * You read the bitter anti-white thesis his wife wrote as a college undergraduate. * You read about the candidate's relative, Raila Odinga, who is connected with brutal Muslim politics in Africa, and background information on the candidate's estranged father who was part of Kenya's most corrupt regime. * You read the complete background on Bill Ayers; his association with your candidate, his FBI criminal record and that Bill Ayers is a completely unrepentant terrorist. * You learn his mentor was Saul Alinsky writer of the book 'Rules for Radicals' * You learn this candidate eulogized Saul Alinsky at his funeral. * You learn this candidate used tactics from 'Rules for Radicals' at his previous employment. * You are advised the candidate's wife used an excerpt from this book during a recent speech * You read the federal indictments on ACORN and learn that this group is being watched by the U.S. Department of Justice and other state and local law enforcement agencies. * You read that your candidate paid ACORN $830,000 dollars in donations and now the group is illegally registering voters. * You learn your candidate is endorsed by every Muslim terrorist organization on Earth; and that previously the candidate favored Muslim beliefs, but as since disclaimed any affiliation. * You read that he is close friends with Rashid Khalidi, a former spokesperson for the PLO. * The candidate also attends parties at Rashidi Khalidi house where the violent overthrow of Israel is discussed. * His friend, Louis Farrakhan, is head of Nation of Islam. * You learn that the candidate's pastor met with global terrorist Mohmmar Khadafi in Libya, along with their mutual friend and anti-American Louis Farrakhan. * You read the printed transcripts of his pastor's anti-White, anti-American' sermons' and are advised your candidate has been close personal friends with this 'pastor' for two decades. * Your candidate has referred to this radical pastor as his 'personal spiritual advisor,' and in fact, the title of one of your candidate’s memoirs was inspired by a line from this pastor's 'sermons.' * You read the file on convicted felon and Syrian born Tony Rezko; his friendship, associations and business transactions with the candidate, as well as high level 'people' of Middle Eastern origin. * You learn that the candidate favored Mr. Rezko by providing him $14,000,000 dollars of tax payer funds. In return, Mr. Rezko gives him the property adjacent to his house at a discount rate. * During college years, you learn that the candidate did not run with a mainstream crowd, but chose radicals and communist agitators for his social group. Your analysis of this person is that this candidate has a tissue thin work experience resume. His own writing exhibits a deep-seeded anger and resentment towards people of the Caucasian race over the issue of slavery. His emotional gravitas is centered upon his African heritage and his belief that the white man is responsible for global poverty and unequal sharing of wealth. The candidate's personal associations since childhood have been mostly with radical African Americans, Muslims, and communists; those who harbor anger towards The United States of America. Particularly disturbing is his lengthy relationship with Bill Ayers, an unrepentant Weatherman radical who bombed government buildings and abdicated the violent overthrow of the United States. The candidate has surrounded himself with anti-American grievance mongers, and appears to manipulate 'typical white people' by appealing to their guilt about slavery. He is a socialist, and totally disenfranchised from the history of 'root America.' The candidate refuses to discuss his years at Columbia University, although he lived off campus and made few friends. He will not release his application to the state bar notes which raises questions on several issues including the use of drugs.

How has humanity gotten to this point? How has humanity gotten so greedy and evil?! With the healthcare debate firing up, how could anyone NOT want a public option? I simply don't understand. We all live on this Earth together. We are all humans. We all get sick, so why is it that we have healthcare that constantly denies people for coverage when they are sick, just to save money, and is so motherfucking expensive?! I feel like it's obvious, the answer is clear. We NEED socialized healthcare. And for those who say that socialism leads to communism, let me list the things that are already socialized in america and doing well... Police Department Fire Department School Transportation Elementary, Middle, High School The reason school is free until College is so that people get educated, and ultimately can vote with an educated mind for their leader. Shouldn't they be healthy too? And it's not even a liberal or conservative issue, either! It's social justice! I don't mean free in the sense that no money goes into it! You know what I mean, for the average person, a trip in the ambulance would be FREE with socialized healthcare. Sean, if your kidding, you're the funniest man alive.
When are people in the USA going to stop protecting the illegal criminals? Since when are illegals "a people"? Thousands rally in May Day effort for immigration reform http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080502/ap_on_re_us/immigration_protests;_ylt=AgrHtA.A0AdzbAYIuRwXcptvzwcF CHICAGO - Thousands of chanting, flag-waving activists rallied in cities across the country Thursday, attempting to reinvigorate calls for immigration reform in a presidential election year in which the economy has taken center stage. ADVERTISEMENT From Washington to Miami to Los Angeles, activists demanded citizenship opportunities for the estimated 12 million illegal immigrants in the U.S. and an end to raids and deportations. "We come here to fight for legalization. We're people. We have rights," said Eric Molina, an undocumented factory worker who immigrated to Zion, Ill., from Mexico. Molina, his sister and his 13-year-old daughter Erika, a U.S. citizen, were among about 15,000 people who rallied in Chicago in one of the largest demonstrations of the day. Turnout has fallen sharply since the first nationwide rallies in 2006, when more than 1 million people — at least 400,000 in Chicago alone — clogged streets and brought downtown traffic to a standstill. Activists say this year's efforts are focused less on protests and more on voter registration and setting an agenda for the next president. Some said participation likely was lower because many immigrants increasingly fear deportation. Margot Veranes, a volunteer organizer in Tucson, Ariz., — where 12,000 took to the streets last year but early estimates Thursday put the crowd at about 500 — blamed the turnout on aggressive enforcement by Border Patrol and police. "People have been stopped and deported in the last week. This is a community living in fear," said Veranes, a researcher for the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades. "You never know when you're going to be stopped by Border Patrol and now the police." But she said that's also why people were marching. "We're marching to end the raids and the deportations, but we're also marching for health care and education and good jobs," she said. Steamy downtown Houston saw between 300 and 400 marchers, including Victor Ibarra, 38, who said he entered the U.S. illegally from Mexico 15 years ago and remains undocumented although he's tried to attain legal status for the past seven years. "I'm here because we need immigration reform immediately," Ibarra said, wearing handcuffs and chains. "We need to be able to travel and be free." In Washington, immigrant rights groups and social justice organizations were demanding that Prince William County, in northern Virginia, rescind its anti-illegal immigration measure. They also called for an end to raids and deportations and for establishment of worker centers in Washington, Maryland and Virginia. Activists also asked the Republican and Democratic national committees to have their presidential candidates enact immigration reform. A crowd of about 1,000 gathered on the steps of the Oregon Capitol in Salem to call for changes in immigration and workplace laws within the first 100 days of the next congressional session. Many demanded that Oregon reverse a decision, imposed by the Legislature in February, to require proof of legal residence to get a driver's license. Hugo Orozzo, a 17-year-old high school senior, was among hundreds who marched through the streets of southwest Detroit. He was born in the U.S., but his father was born in Mexico and some other family members are originally from Mexico. "It is going to help my family and friends," Orozzo said of the effort. He carried a preprinted sign that read: "Stop raids and deportations that separate families!" in both English and Spanish. In Miami, 75 people marched to the regional immigration offices from the Little Haiti neighborhood. Among them was Elvira Carbajal, who came from Mexico more than a decade ago and is a U.S. citizen but said many of her family members are not. "They are going to grow up with this anger of the government for the loss of their parents, parents who were simply trying to give them a better life," she said. In San Francisco, protesters Marta Acuchi and her husband Jose, from Michoacan, Mexico, closed their child daycare center to march with about 400 others. "We need to fix the legal situation of immigrants," she said. "Even if it's not this year legislators are seeing we're still here, we're still marching, we're still knocking on their door." And in Milwaukee, factory worker Miguel Tesillos, 29, was among hundreds who lined sidewalks waiting for the march to begin. "Our people, we pay taxes, we pay the same as a citizen," said Tesillos, who has a Green Card. "Maybe the new president can see this point, and do something for us." But activists say they know it will be a challenge to push their issues to the political forefront. Immigration reform did not resonate with voters in primary elections who overwhelmingly listed the economy as their top concern. Immigration legislation has stalled and been defeated in the Senate, and presidential candidates have not extensively addressed the issues. Democratic presidential rivals Sens. Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton supported a 2006 bill, sponsored by Republican candidate John McCain, that offered illegal immigrants legal status on conditions such as learning English. All three also have supported a border fence. In Chicago, 17-year-old Celeste Rodarte marched with a group of her friends from the city's West Side. She said her parents came to the United States more than 20 years ago and became citizens last year. "I know a lot of people who don't have papers and I want to help them out," Rodarte said. Seventh-grader Vicente Campos of Milwaukee was granted an excused absence from school to attend the march. He said he was concerned by stories of immigration officials separating parents and children. "Immigrants come here to support their families in Mexico," said Campos, 13. "They're not all here to do crimes." ___

He was one hundred percent vested in Profit Sharing and had a one month vacation allocated per year. No meetings to address any potentail problems at the Tire and Battery Center were brought up by the Team Lead or Management. As of Monday, 9 April 2007, the people of the Tire Shop are playing pranks and making it appear as if Max Rafael Waller is becoming forgetful such as the misplacement of tools and personal safety gear. The suspects are Erick Miron and Mark Castro. Esperanza Lopez was told and never had a meeting to discuss the topics brought to her attention by Max Rafael Waller. The others are scared to tell the truth. Sam's Club 6625 Fidel Jacobo has POSSIBLY EVERYBODY at Sam's Club gathering information given out by Max Rafael Waller and will reward them by promotion and/or a payraise along with illegal surveillance that GROSSLY violates Global Ethics Compliance that Wal-Mart Stores, Inc claims to uphold. They will say they are understaff and this is baseless. Fidel Jacobo might be spreading misinformation through the tire shop boss, Bill Lang. Fidel Jacobo has received a lot of Anti-Union training Bill told Max if the associates do not follow rules let that be the problem of management. Bill Lang is a Team Lead and so he is required to enforce all rules even IF he disagrees. Los Angeles Times C2 Thursday, April 5, 2007 in the Business Section the title is Wal-Mart defend its monitoring If it is proven then it is a gross violoation of the Global Ethics that Wal Mart Stores, Inc agreed to comply when they signed it around 2003 Will Wal Mart Stores, Inc allow inspection of all internal complaints that have violated Global Ethics or stonewall like the White House and the Valerie Plame situation ? The secret for Wal-Mart not getting caught of Fear and intimidation is simple: a lot of unwritten rules so there is no evidence. A lot of non-managers associates will respond by saying they see or know nothing of improper treatment. They will also have selective memory. The Legal Division of Wal-Mart Stores, Inc is preparing countercharges and some will be Invasion of Privacy, Defamation of Character, Character Assassination, Destroying Reputation, Intent , Injurious to morale , etcetera, but the biggest will be that this site is ONLY generalizations and especially baseless with no legally verifiable facts. Will the Legal Division have legitimate countercharges ? Yes, but I chose no to type all them and have them ready for a lawyer for effective defense and so it is their problem to figure them out. Duress and Graymail may be part of the defense of Max Rafael Waller along with the usual Freedom of Exprssion afforded by the US Constitution Graymail can be used against US Federal Government and possibly local Law Enforcement. Will Wal-Mart succeed in having Max Rafael Waller discredited by a Psychological Evaluation thereby stigmatizing him as a man with grands delusions ? Is Samuel Robson Walton of Wal-Mart Stores, Inc part of this ? Ensuring that legal cases proving that the rules to ensure to easy terminate people are not made aware? Wal-Mart Stores, Inc has a persistent Legal Divsion that rivals the US Federal Government and has many victories on its belt. INTIAL ATTEMPT TO DISCREDIT WITH A PSYCHOLOGICAL EVALUATION A possible misdiagnosis and initial attempt to discredit through a Psychological Evaluation by Scott Wang MD from Providence Holy Cross Medical Center 15301 Rinaldi St Mission Hills CA 91345 Telephone: 1-818-365-8051 Dr Scott Wang's name could not be found at their website http://www.providence.org/losangeles/facilities/providence_holy_cross/default.htmand he is the one who possibly suggested a Psychiatric Evaluation so a result to Wal-Mart's desire could be used to start discrediting Max Rafael Waller An old white man with a Kaiser Permanente badge and from a Psychiatric Evaluation team from Kaiser never left a business card or a phone number for communication. He looked like an actor from Law and Order portraying a Psychiatrist and impersonation IS illegal and punishable by law. On Sunday, 1 April 2007 Dr Paul R Hladon Kaiser Permanente 13652 Cantara St Panorama City CA 91402 Telephone: 1-818-375-2377 Dr Paul R Hladon reluctantly gave Max two prescriptions: Azithromycin 250MG {Take two tablets daily for seven days} and Ciprofloxacin HCL 500MG{Take one tablet orally two times a day for fourteen days} Only two X-Rays and no blood test done, so how did Dr Hladon know what to prescribe ? He took the medicine and instructions as given. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The FBI are also exploiting fear and they have the BSU as their asset. Bill Lang has casually spoken about death and intimidation about how Max will get fired with one more coaching which comes from the FBI and Wal-Mart's Homeoffice in Bentonville Arkansas 72716. Possible causes Max Rafael Waller's fear of possibly dying. Around Wednesday, 21 March 2007 he dragged the rotting carcass of a dog so children would not touch it. It was in front on the Pepsi Bottling Plant in San Fernando California 91340 and its entrance is on Dronfield Ave. He MIGHT have breathed some Bacteria, Germs or other Biological Agents and maybe some Botulism. Also Desiccating{drying} Bacteria. Esther Topete was watering the front lawn at 11261 Sproule Ave, Pacoima California 91331 and was scared. Max picked up a headless Squirrel that had a foul stench and maggots and placed in the garbage bin. Psychiatric Evaluation(S) is a legal tool to discredit a critic so if they can find that a individual(s) has mental problems or unable to cope with life's problem the discrediting tactic will work. A stigma of mental problem is almost impossible to overcome. Being labeled with poor mental health has been used to successfully discredit a critic. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ACTIVITIES BY THE FBI Group Stalking will be denied resulting with the accusser(s) being prejudged or viewed as someone with Visual Hallucinations, additionally, Electromagnetic Harassment or Electromagnetic Pulses will be denied resulting with the accusser(s)being prejudged or viewed as someone with Auditory Hallucinations. Both can be used when someone is driving or walking but when someone is trying to sleep the Electromagnetic Harassment will be used to disrupt sleep and with lack of sleep people's behavior is altered significantly and people end up with the impressions that they cannot handle stress. Electromagnetic Harassment is used to break the will of people who dare to dissent. The FBI has a complete profile of Max Rafael Waller and two weak areas are Anger and Anxiety, so they will create a situation that will end with him having a Fatal Heart Attack and/or Fatal Stroke. The FBI will to DO Sleep Deprivation/disruption AGAINST MAX RAFAEL WALLER. The collaborators of US Law Enforcement are the neighbors around Sproule Ave and Pierce St area Will the FBI be creative and imaginative with this information along with the profile to discredit Max Rafael Waller ? The neighbors around the corner of Sproule Ave and Pierce St in Pacoima California 91331 are collaborating by playing a lot of bass on their speakers and technically their noise is considered Electro-Magnetic Pulses, EMP, since the speakers have magnets energized or powered by electricity. This is why it is vital for them to have people found to be mentally unstable by the legal use of Psychological Evaluation. The FBI will discredit Max Rafael Waller by ALL NECESSARY MEANS as they other Americans like a serial killer Biological and Psychological war along with Electronic from their world famous Behavioral Science Unit or BSU The FBI might HAVE an unofficial pact with Organized Crime and they have been intercepting phone calls and ended phone calls with the help of Time-Warner Cable US Law Enforcement have all of the Internet activities and had yet to find any evidence to charge someone of potentially being an Internet Predator and Pedophile. Sadly the owners of the house at 11261 Sproule Ave, Pacoima CA 91331 are family members and do NOT want to get involved. Su much for family unity. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Surveillance, Psychotronics and (Gang)Stalking Operations The Xiandos web site is http://xiandos.info/Surveillance,_Psychotronics_and_(Gang-)Stalking_Operations -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The FBI will cite National Security and not allow the reviews of any US Federal Black Operations. Any damaging evidence destroyed or manipulated before it is declassified. An example is how LTC Oliver North and Fawn Hall destroyed documents about Iran Contra. The Electronic equipment emit Electromagnetic Waves. There is something called Electromagnetic Spectrum that range from low energy to high level energy. Electromagnetic Spectrum http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electromagnetic_spectrum http://www.lbl.gov/MicroWorlds/ALSTool/EMSpec/EMSpec2.html The Frequencies of the Human Body The Human Body is has certain frequencies with certain organs like the heart and brain have a specific frequency and the emitter or transmitter can be adjusted to slowly damage them and leading to any illness. Hi guys i have shortened this essay by 400 words but i need help removing another 300. Please help (10pts)? “Time goes by and contexts change but great texts continue to hold relevant messages for the responder.” Evaluate the understanding you have gained from your critical study of text in different contexts. In your response you should discuss the construction, content and language of your text/s. Although uniquely crafted for a specific time and place, with a particular purpose for the social and cultural context, it is certainly true that great speeches and their messages continue to resonate with responders throughout time. While personal interpretations of meaning and value may differ among audiences of different contexts, the universal concerns shared by society, that transcend both time and place, ensure that the messages remitted through great speeches are of timeless relevance. I believe this is evident in both Martin Luther King’s “I have a dream” and Emma Goldman’s “The political criminal of today must needs be the saint of a new age”, as their pertinent messages have been shaped in such a way, due to the effective use of rhetorical technique, that they can be simply translated to the audience, ensuring their speeches were memorable and resonate with a contemporary audience due to their universal themes of freedom and equality. Delivered during the March on Washington for jobs and freedom in 1963, from the steps of the Lincoln memorial, King’s “I have dream” speech retains enduring power due to his focus on the universal concepts of equality, racial justice and freedom, which are issues still relevant to us today. Their relevance can be underscored, when we consider the conflict in Darfur, and the African-Arab government’s treatment of the black minority. Through fiery rhetoric and an amalgamation of metaphors and similes King conveyed the need to put an end to racial segregation and recognise that all people are created equal. Speaking directly to the Negroes of Mississippi and Alabama, King begins with a historic allusion to the declaration of independence that “all men are created equal”. In this way, he reinforces to the audience that they were robbed of equality, as well as gives his message credibility, thus allowing him to establish rapport with his audience. By using an extended metaphor of cashing a cheque and defaulting on a loan, King ensures that his audience can relate to his message and in doing so, they can understand and respond. King writes "America has given the Negro people a bad check, a check which has come back marked insufficient funds ", a simple metaphor to comprehend, yet conveying a much deeper message of the civil rights issue. Through his juxtaposition of phrases, such as “quicksands of racial injustice” to the “solid ground of brotherhood”, King makes clear his message to his audience, warning them that the nation is sinking with no hope of recovery, but that justice and equality can pull the nation up. The repetition of the clause “Now is the time” adds to the rhetorical effectiveness of King’s speech, reinforcing the hope and faith he offers. In line with events of the time, the message of freedom for all people is also conveyed in King’s speech, as it appropriately reflected the contexts, during a period when blacks were repressed to forced slavery. In a contemporary context the theme of freedom can be related to by an audience of today, particularly in the current political climate of the blockade of the Gaza strip by Israeli forces. By using hyperboles and contrasts, King makes his message of freedom more accessible for his audience and thus, more persuasive. When King bellows that “This sweltering heat of oppression, will be transformed into an oasis of freedom and justice”, he hyperbolises the suffering of his people using words with negative connotations, such as “sweltering” and “heat”, which he juxtaposes to the serene metaphoric imagery of “an oasis of freedom and justice”. King’s repetition of key phrases such as “I have a dream” and “Let freedom ring”, further reinforces his message of freedom, and simultaneously through his use of inclusive pronouns, such as ‘I’ he involves the audience in the speech, as if each person is involved in fighting for the principles of equality; a technique which Goldman also skillfully applies. The emphatic way in which these lines are delivered creates a sense of urgency within the audience and moves them to progress further towards justice and liberty. His musical tone with repetition climaxing by crescendo intensifies his statement and inspires the emotions of the audience. His tone becomes louder and faster, thus more imperative to ‘let freedom ring’. During its delivery King’s message of freedom, equality and racial justice was well-received by his audience of almost a quarter million, who adored King for standing up against the oppression that the blacks of America had endured for centuries. King’s skillful oration and simple rhetorical technique even inspired President Kennedy and his white cabinet, who initially despised King. Following King’s speech they passed the federal civil rights legislation. I believe given the more open minded nature of today’s audience, we are better able to value the speech for its messages. Nevertheless, King’s brilliant use of rhetoric and skillful construction ensures that his speech retains its enduring power, despite changing contexts. This is reflected in the fact that today there are federal laws against discrimination. At the time of the Great War, a time where the nation was bound by patriotism, Goldman was on trial for her controversial anarchist views, which were seen as a threat to patriotism and the government. As a result of my study of Goldman’s speech I have gained knowledge that the contentious nature of her universal concepts of equality and freedom, give her speech timeless importance. Similar to King, Goldman conveys her message of freedom, specifically the need for freedom of speech, as well as attempts to defend her anarchist position and persuade the jurors to agree with her views. Whilst contemporary audiences may be more accepting to Goldman’s message of free speech and anarchist views, the jurors/audience of her time would have viewed such ideas and messages as fanatical. To successfully persuade the jurors/audience Goldman used a list of rhetoric to make her message and defense convincing. Goldman used rhetorical questions, for instance “Shall free speech…be destroyed?”. This immediately involved her audience and made them reflect on the issue being raised. In this particular example, Goldman appealed to the audience’s patriotism, highlighting her belief in free speech and justice for all. By continually raising these questions Goldman’s audience is required to consider and challenge their own opinions, essential to Goldman if she is to persuade them with her messages. Goldman ironically uses biblical allusions in her speech even though she is of communist standing and therefore doesn’t recognise religion. Through the repeated use of “Verily resonates Jesus”, Goldman shows her ability to connect and identify with her mostly Christian audience, portraying her message of universal peace and liberty. Goldman’s use of rhetoric persuades her audience to accept her radical views by appealing to their sense of democracy and freedom for all. By invoking an emotional response, we can see that the execution of rhetorical technique is essential in creating a successful speech, as it is what gives the speech its enduring power, and thus timeless importance. Like King, Goldman’s speech also carries a message of equality and racial justice. However, Goldman’s message analyses the way women are treated by power wielding men, more specifically in the legal and political system. With sexism still a rampant issue in today’s context, particularly when considering women still get paid 16 per cent less than men, Goldman’s message of equality and discrimination continues to retain enduring power. During her defence against claims of conspiracy Goldman defends her anarchist position and utilises sarcasm and truncated sentences to ridicule the jury when she repeatedly declares that she is facing “Gentlemen of the jury” and only gentlemen. The anaphora illustrates her contempt that there are no females present in the jury, that these men are supposed to be honest gentlemen, an oxymoron in her eyes, and so should treat her the same way they would treat others in the same position. Historically, Goldman’s speech failed as she insisted on pushing conventions at a turbulent time, however that only strengthens its power today. In today’s context Goldman’s messages and themes of democracy and freedom of speech are still relevant, as they are still be questioned. Maybe even more so now, given that there is no longer a social threat of communism or anarchism. With a wider knowledge of political ideologies, a contemporary audience can respect the speech for its controversial nature & its brilliant use of oratory technique adding to its enduring power. Through my study of the two speeches by Martin Luther King and Emma Goldman, I have learnt that the messages of worthy orations can be appreciated both during and after the time of delivery. This is due to their perfect execution of the art & intellect of rhetoric, as well as their inclusion of values specific to their time and universal for all time: Freedom, equality and racial justice. This calculus can be even more devastating in the 11 states that had African American voter turnout percentages of 13% or more in 2004. As the young people might say- the Democrats better recognize!Posted by: theradioactivist | March 16, 2008 05:30 PM Nancy Pelozi doesn't care who will be the best president. Nancy Pelozi is only interested in her representatives electibility for the House, which Nancy controls.Nancy Pelozi is looking less and less attractive as a political figure. She says the right things the Democrats want to hear, and next thing you know, there she is smiling, and grinning ear to ear, standing behind the President while he signs legislation we don't want. gw.Posted by: Iowatreasures | March 16, 2008 05:30 PM j9zig1I believe the correct term is St. Paddy's day. Just clarifying, not being confrontational.______________I don't think they will. He is untested. Has done little in the senate but run for president. The Wright story was not out when he was getting votes from whites due to his "unity" message. It falls flat now. As I said before, I think he loses that Wright issue any way you slice it. Either he didn't think his church was controversial or he didn't know. Which is it? Supporting someone who you say is your "mentor" who says "appalling" things with thousands of dollars is worse than saying them yourself. At least the pastor is being honest. Roy has filed lawsuits against God, U.S. Presidents, Supreme Court Justices, fast food restaurants, foreign leaders.[2], and Wikipedia [3] [4].Roy's lawsuits have addressed, among many other things, actions taken by President George W. Bush, overcharging by telecommunication companies, the appointment of Chief Justice John Roberts to the Supreme Court, and "failure of democratic societies and God's role therein."[5] In 2006 Judge Michael W. McConnell of The United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit described a typical Roy complaint:Roy, a/k/a Joseph Geronimo, Jr. filed a 115-page complaint, a 144-page amended complaint, and a 40-page second amended complaint against over sixty defendants, including among many others President Bush, God as U.S.-based divine benefactor, several government agencies, The New York Times, and Kentucky Fried Chicken. In addition to pages of rambling discourse, the complaint contains numerous illegible handwritten remarks.[6]The Tenth Circuit went on to affirm the district court's dismissal of the complaint holding that no discernible claim was apparent from the complaint. Judge McConnell also humorously noted that the court "strongly suspect[ed] at least one defendant was not properly served."[7]Most, if not all, of Roy's complaints have been dismissed. A 2006 United States District Court for the District of Delaware opinion, Jungle Democracy v. U.S., describes Roy as "no stranger to litigation" and provides a partial list of Roy lawsuits that have been dismissed since 1991.[8]Despite Roy's lack of success in the courts, his lawsuits have been discussed in law school classrooms and in law related blogs.[9] [10]In April 2007 Roy filed a civil rights action against, among others, CBS Broadcasting Inc., MSNBC, the United States Government, and controversial radio shock jock Don Imus.[11]In October, 2007, Roy filed a suit in the US District Court, Middle District of Florida, against "Wikipedia Encyclopedia, USA, All News Media, All State Board of Elections, Federal Election Commission". Mr. Paul?s piece speaks about many issues facing Americans today. I am a 51-year-old woman. I have been married to the same man since 1976. I am the secretary/office manager for a small legal firm in the D.C. suburbs. My husband manages a wine and spirits store. I have two sons, aged 26 and 22. After realizing it wasn?t possible to support themselves and the government at the same time, both returned to the nuclear nest. Along with most people in my economic situation, I believe I am living what is supposed to be the American dream. I know why I am an angry American. I am frightened because America isn?t the same country it was when I was my children?s age. Allow me to share with you some of the reasons why I am an angry American. I am angry because my government has been taken over by liars, thieves, thugs, deviants, and micromanagers. The propaganda it produces rivals that of the most fascist dictatorship. I am angry that my government perceives my intelligence to be that of a jar of pickles incapable of making the smallest decision. I am angry that my government takes it upon itself to shove its clucking nose into my pantry, medicine chest, bedroom, family room, doctor?s office, workplace, and everywhere else it thinks I need guidance to keep me safe from myself. I am angry that the will of the American people is ignored on every issue imaginable. If voting really mattered, it would have been outlawed long ago. I am angry that I am called a conspiracy theorist because I dare to think on my own and question authority and its lies. I am angry that the more I read about 9-11 the more it looks like an inside job that was allowed to happen, enabling the Patriot Act to be conveniently enacted into law with the ensuing "war on terrah" following closely on its heels. I am angry that the evil puppets in power think laws are created for the peon masses and it is their right to ignore the ones that get in the way of their agenda. I am angry that the media has sold its soul to the evil forces running the world. I am angry that my "leaders" have taken to calling my country the "homeland." It reeks of socialism. I am angry that my government has invaded yet another sovereign nation and caused untold death and destruction based on a flimsy lie. I am expected to believe that weapons of mass destruction threatened my freedom and then I am told several years and billions of squandered dollars later that a massive intelligence network got the wrong information. A select group of businesses profit enormously from war. When Bush announced his intention to save Iraq from itself and that its oil would pay for the overthrow of Hussein, I laughed so hard I nearly choked. I remember the instability in the Middle East during the 1970s and the gas "shortages" that followed. I knew which direction gas prices would go. How stupid does Mr. Bush and his cronies think I am? I am angry that the world stands silently by while my government bombs foreign lands with weapons containing depleted uranium and the news magazines wonder on their front covers why lung cancer has increased six-fold in the last year. I am angry that Americans accept as gospel the propaganda that is routinely cranked out of the Washington lie machine. The lies become more transparent and brazen with each passing year, yet the only thing that seems to matter in living rooms across America is who will be the next American Idol. I am angry that I am punished with high energy and gas prices and the resulting inflation because tree-hugging terrorists masquerading as environmentalists have handcuffed my country?s ability to produce its own energy. It would be easy to tell the Middle East what to do with their oil if restrictions on exploration and production were lifted in our own backyard. I am angry that I am constantly admonished by minimalists for being a greedy consumer because I live where I choose, drive the vehicle of my choice, eat meat, and use tin foil to cover my leftovers. I am angry that my life doesn?t belong to me anymore. I am angry that I am required to obtain permission, fill out mandated paperwork in quadruplicate, and obtain the correct license or permit for just about everything imaginable. The tentacles of government are strangling my freedom, choice, and privacy at an alarming rate. The wrath of the machine is a constant threat should I dare do anything without leaving a neon paper trail and of course ignorance of the law is never an excuse. I am angry that property rights are a thing of the past thanks to court-approved eminent domain theft. I am angry that the Constitution is routinely declared irrelevant making it easier for a fascist police state and new world order to take over. I am angry that legislation is in the works that will require me to carry "papers" to "prove" who I am. Another coming law I will ignore. I am angry that my right to own and carry a firearm is drastically regulated and restricted. I am angry every time I see a young person detained on the side of the road while cops paw through their possessions looking for anything that could enable them to be arrested and dragged through the criminal justice system. This has become so commonplace it is now the accepted norm. I am angry that roadblocks are set up under the guise of keeping roads free of drunk drivers. What has happened to my right to travel freely? Why am I presumed guilty without probable cause? I am afraid to have a few drinks when I go out to dinner for fear I will be pulled over and end up in court-ordered drug rehabilitation. I am angry when I read stories of Americans terrorized in airports and treated like common criminals by government minions after they have paid for the right to travel within a private system, yet pilots are blocked from carrying firearms. I am angry that America has become a nation of busybodies. We are constantly bombarded with messages to be on the lookout for terrorists around every corner, report "suspicious activity," and rat on our neighbor whenever the opportunity presents itself. Is this not how the Nazis gained control of Germany and then most of Europe? I am angry that the government requires me to sign a form every time I purchase a prescription. Whose business is it that I choose to take a thyroid medication, an antibiotic, a painkiller, an appetite suppressant, or any other substance? Am I dying of cancer? Am I facing debilitating chronic pain? Do I simply want to get HIGH? Heaven forbid someone out there might get their hands on something that might make them FEEL GOOD! No substance should be illegal or unobtainable. If a person wishes to self-medicate, that is their right. The government should not be in the business of criminalizing personal choices of any kind as long as those choices don?t infringe on another?s rights. I am angry that my government meddles in the lives of people all over the world but looks the other way on the catastrophic issue of what to do about the millions of illegals who have crashed the gates of this nation. My country?s laws are ignored and mocked, yet I am told I must accept with open arms those who are here illegally. My taxes are used to educate their children in their native language. Hospitals are overrun with indigent people seeking medical care. Untaxed dollars earned in the underground economy are sent to the family back home while social services here are stretched to the limit. I read job want ads stating if you aren?t bilingual don?t bother to apply. What would happen to me if I placed an ad that said don?t bother to apply if your English isn?t understandable? Marches are conducted in my cities? streets waving their countries? flags as they shamelessly demand their "rights." I am told they deserve the same opportunities that brought my forefathers here. I am scolded that it is un-American to ask why they are not sent home. I am told that the term "illegal alien" offends them and that they prefer to be called "undocumented workers" and that my economy would die without them. I will happily pay more for fruits and vegetables if it means enforcing sensible immigration laws. But immigration isn?t about the cost of lettuce. It is another facet of an agenda that is bent on changing the face of America. When America is no longer a wealthy country of white European descent, it will be a place worse than anything Orwell could have imagined. I am angry that my country is the only nation on earth who declares that a baby born on its soil is automatically an American citizen. I am angry that the thugs that run my country don?t have the guts to declare English my nation?s official language. I am angry that I have to search a package for English and push a button on every telephone system and ATM machine to continue in English. I am angry that Washington, D.C.?s Metro is now being pressured to replace every station sign with bilingual verbiage to the tune of millions of dollars. Are bilingual road signs going to be the next mandated law of the land? I am currently forced to pay for voting ballots printed in 15 different languages and my tax dollars pay for interpreter services for people who are summoned to court for breaking laws. If English is the international language of the world, why isn?t it good enough to be the official language of the United States? I am angry when I am told I am a bigot when I thumb my nose at political correctness. I am angry when I wonder whether an expressed belief or opinion could land me in litigation if someone doesn?t like what I said and wants to silence my voice. I am angry that diversity and sensitivity training is being forced on people whose only crime is to dare to speak freely. I am angry that the symbols, customs, and roots of my Judeo-Christian country are being systematically outlawed because my culture offends newcomers. When we freely choose to go somewhere, are we not accepting the customs and cultures of that place? I am weary of being made to feel guilty for being an American. And finally, I am angry that after working my entire adult life, I don?t see retirement in my life?s picture. My husband and I earn over a hundred thousand dollars a year, but by the time we pay federal taxes, state taxes, social security taxes, property taxes, sales taxes, excise taxes, energy taxes, telecommunication taxes, savings taxes, fees, permits, etc., there isn?t much left. But please don?t think that I mind supporting every deadbeat and down-and-outer with his hand out for a piece of my pie that I worked so hard for. I love supporting the world. Roy has filed lawsuits against God, U.S. Presidents, Supreme Court Justices, fast food restaurants, foreign leaders.[2], and Wikipedia [3] [4]. Roy's lawsuits have addressed, among many other things, actions taken by President George W. Bush, overcharging by telecommunication companies, the appointment of Chief Justice John Roberts to the Supreme Court, and "failure of democratic societies and God's role therein."[5] In 2006 Judge Michael W. McConnell of The United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit described a typical Roy complaint: Roy, a/k/a Joseph Geronimo, Jr. filed a 115-page complaint, a 144-page amended complaint, and a 40-page second amended complaint against over sixty defendants, including among many others President Bush, God as U.S.-based divine benefactor, several government agencies, The New York Times, and Kentucky Fried Chicken. In addition to pages of rambling discourse, the complaint contains numerous illegible handwritten remarks.[6] The Tenth Circuit went on to affirm the district court's dismissal of the complaint holding that no discernible claim was apparent from the complaint. Judge McConnell also humorously noted that the court "strongly suspect[ed] at least one defendant was not properly served."[7] Most, if not all, of Roy's complaints have been dismissed. A 2006 United States District Court for the District of Delaware opinion, Jungle Democracy v. U.S., describes Roy as "no stranger to litigation" and provides a partial list of Roy lawsuits that have been dismissed since 1991.[8] Despite Roy's lack of success in the courts, his lawsuits have been discussed in law school classrooms and in law related blogs.[9] [10] In April 2007 Roy filed a civil rights action against, among others, CBS Broadcasting Inc., MSNBC, the United States Government, and controversial radio shock jock Don Imus.[11] In October, 2007, Roy filed a suit in the US District Court, Middle District of Florida, against "Wikipedia Encyclopedia, USA, All News Media, All State Board of Elections, Federal Election Commission". Reilly, Pittsburgh, for Janis Surman. Joanne Ross Wilder, Pittsburgh, for Rodger Lindh. Before FLAHERTY, C.J., and ZAPPALA, CAPPY, CASTILLE, NIGRO, NEWMAN and SAYLOR, JJ. OPINION NEWMAN, Justice. In this appeal, we are asked to decide whether a donee of an engagement ring must return the ring or its equivalent value when the donor breaks the engagement. *3 The facts of this case depict a tumultuous engagement between Rodger Lindh (Rodger), a divorced, middle-aged man, and Janis Surman (Janis), the object of Rodger's inconstant affections. In August of 1993, Rodger proposed marriage to Janis. To that purpose, he presented her with a diamond engagement ring that he purchased for $17,400. Rodger testified that the price was less than the ring's market value because he was a "good customer" of the jeweler's, having previously purchased a $4,000 ring for his ex-wife and other expensive jewelry for his children. Janis, who had never been married, accepted his marriage proposal and the ring. Discord developed in the relationship between Rodger and Janis, and in October of 1993 Rodger broke the engagement and asked for the return of the ring. At that time, Janis obliged and gave Rodger the ring. Rodger and Janis attempted to reconcile. They succeeded, and Rodger again proposed **644 marriage, and offered the ring, to Janis. For a second time, Janis accepted. In March of 1994, however, Rodger called off the engagement. He asked for the return of the ring, which Janis refused, and this litigation ensued. Rodger filed a two-count complaint against Janis, seeking recovery of the ring or a judgment for its equivalent value. The case proceeded to arbitration, where a panel of arbitrators awarded judgment for Janis. Rodger appealed to the Court of Common Pleas of Allegheny County, where a brief non-jury trial resulted in a judgment in favor of Rodger in the amount of $21,200. [FN1] Janis appealed to the Superior Court, which affirmed the trial court in a 2-1 panel decision. Judge Ford Elliott, writing for the majority, held that no-fault principles should control, and that the ring must be returned regardless of who broke the engagement, and irrespective of the reasons. In a Dissenting Opinion, Judge Schiller criticized the Majority Opinion for creating what he termed a "romantic bailment" because of its refusal to examine the actions of the donor in breaking the engagement, thereby creating a per se rule requiring the return of an engagement ring in all circumstances. *4 We granted allocatur to answer this novel question of Pennsylvania law. FN1. The basis for the $21,200 award of the trial court was Rodger's testimony that this was the fair market value of the ring. [1] We begin our analysis with the only principle on which all parties agree: that Pennsylvania law treats the giving of an engagement ring as a conditional gift. See Pavlicic v. Vogtsberger, 390 Pa. 502, 136 A.2d 127 (1957). In Pavlicic, the plaintiff supplied his ostensible fiancée with numerous gifts, including money for the purchase of engagement and wedding rings, with the understanding that they were given on the condition that she marry him. When the defendant left him for another man, the plaintiff sued her for recovery of these gifts. Justice Musmanno explained the conditional gift principle: A gift given by a man to a woman on condition that she embark on the sea of matrimony with him is no different from a gift based on the condition that the donee sail on any other sea. If, after receiving the provisional gift, the donee refuses to leave the harbor,--if the anchor of contractual performance sticks in the sands of irresolution and procrastination--the gift must be restored to the donor. Id. at 507, 136 A.2d at 130. Where the parties disagree, however, is: (1) what is the condition of the gift (i.e., acceptance of the engagement or the marriage itself), and (2) whether fault is relevant to determining return of the ring. Janis argues that the condition of the gift is acceptance of the marriage proposal, not the performance of the marriage ceremony. She also contends that Pennsylvania law, which treats engagement gifts as implied-in-law conditional gifts, has never recognized a right of recovery in a donor who severs the engagement. In her view, we should not recognize such a right where the donor breaks off the engagement, because, if the condition of the gift is performance of the marriage ceremony, that would reward a donor who prevents the occurrence of the condition, which the donee was ready, willing, and eagerly waiting to perform. [2] Janis first argues that the condition of the gift is acceptance *5 of the proposal of marriage, such that acceptance of the proposal vests absolute title in the donee. This theory is contrary to Pennsylvania's view of the engagement ring situation. In Ruehling v. Hornung, 98 Pa.Super. 535 (1930), the Superior Court provided what is still the most thorough Pennsylvania appellate court analysis of the problem: It does not appear whether the engagement was broken by plaintiff or whether it was dissolved by mutual consent. It **645 follows that in order to permit a recovery by plaintiff, it would be necessary to hold that the gifts were subject to the implied condition that they would be returned by the donee to the donor whenever the engagement was dissolved. Under such a rule the marriage would be a necessary prerequisite to the passing of an absolute title to a Christmas gift made in such circumstances. We are unwilling to go that far, except as to the engagement ring. Id. at 540 (emphasis added). This Court later affirmed that "[t]he promise to return an antenuptial gift made in contemplation of marriage if the marriage does not take place is a fictitious promise implied in law." Semenza v. Alfano, 443 Pa. 201, 204, 279 A.2d 29, 31 (1971) (emphasis added). Our caselaw clearly recognizes the giving of an engagement gift as having an implied condition that the marriage must occur in order to vest title in the donee; mere acceptance of the marriage proposal is not the implied condition for the gift. Janis' argument that Pennsylvania law does not permit the donor to recover the ring where the donor terminates the engagement has some basis in the few Pennsylvania authorities that have addressed the matter. The following language from Ruehling implies that Janis' position is correct: We think that it [the engagement ring] is always given subject to the implied condition that if the marriage does not take place either because of the death, or a disability recognized by the law on the part of, either party, or by breach of the contract by the donee, or its dissolution by mutual consent, the gift shall be returned. Ruehling, 98 Pa.Super. at 540. Noticeably absent from the recital by the court of the situations where the ring must be returned is when the donor breaks the engagement. Other *6 Pennsylvania authorities also suggest that the donor cannot recover the ring when the donor breaks the engagement. See 7 Summary of Pennsylvania Jurisprudence 2d § 15:29, p. 111 ("upon breach of the marriage engagement by the donee, the property may be recovered by the donor"); 17 Pennsylvania Law Encyclopedia, "Gifts," § 9, p. 118 (citing to a 1953 common pleas court decision, "[i]f, on the other hand, the donor wrongfully terminates the engagement, he is not entitled to return of the ring"). [3] This Court, however, has not decided the question of whether the donor is entitled to return of the ring where the donor admittedly ended the engagement. In the context of our conditional gift approach to engagement rings, the issue we must resolve is whether we will follow the fault-based theory, argued by Janis, or the no-fault rule advocated by Rodger. Under a fault-based analysis, return of the ring depends on an assessment of who broke the engagement, which necessarily entails a determination of why that person broke the engagement. A no-fault approach, however, involves no investigation into the motives or reasons for the cessation of the engagement and requires the return of the engagement ring simply upon the nonoccurrence of the marriage. The rule concerning the return of a ring founded on fault principles has superficial appeal because, in the most outrageous instances of unfair behavior, it appeals to our sense of equity. Where one fiancée has truly "wronged" the other, depending on whether that person was the donor of the ring or the donee, justice appears to dictate that the wronged individual should be allowed to keep, or have the ring returned. However, the process of determining who is "wrong" and who is "right," when most modern relationships are complex circumstances, makes the fault-based approach less desirable. A thorough fault-based inquiry would not only end with the question of who terminated the engagement, but would also examine that person's reasons. In some instances the person who terminated the engagement may have been entirely justified in his or her actions. **646 This kind of inquiry would invite the parties to stage the most bitter and unpleasant *7 accusations against those whom they nearly made their spouse, and a court would have no clear guidance with regard to how to ascertain who was "at fault." The Supreme Court of Kansas recited the difficulties with the fault-based system: What is fault or the unjustifiable calling off of an engagement? By way of illustration, should courts be asked to determine which of the following grounds for breaking an engagement is fault or justified? (1) The parties have nothing in common; (2) one party cannot stand prospective in-laws; (3) a minor child of one of the parties is hostile to and will not accept the other party; (4) an adult child of one of the parties will not accept the other party; (5) the parties' pets do not get along; (6) a party was too hasty in proposing or accepting the proposal; (7) the engagement was a rebound situation which is now regretted; (8) one party has untidy habits that irritate the other; or (9) the parties have religious differences. The list could be endless. Heiman v. Parrish, 262 Kan. 926, 942 P.2d 631, 637 (1997). A ring-return rule based on fault principles will inevitably invite acrimony and encourage parties to portray their ex-fiancées in the worst possible light, hoping to drag out the most favorable arguments to justify, or to attack, the termination of an engagement. Furthermore, it is unlikely that trial courts would be presented with situations where fault was clear and easily ascertained and, as noted earlier, determining what constitutes fault would result in a rule that would defy universal application. The approach that has been described as the modern trend is to apply a no-fault rule to engagement ring cases. See Vigil v. Haber, 888 P.2d at 455 (N.M.1994). Courts that have applied no-fault principles to engagement ring cases have borrowed from the policies of their respective legislatures that have moved away from the notion of fault in their divorce statutes. See, e.g., Vigil, supra (relying on the New Mexico legislature's enactment of the first no-fault divorce statute); Aronow v. Silver, 223 N.J.Super. 344, 538 A.2d 851 (1987) (noting New Jersey's approval of no-fault divorce). As described by the court in Vigil, this trend represents a move *8 " towards a policy that removes fault-finding from the personal-relationship dynamics of marriage and divorce." Vigil, 888 P.2d at 457. Indeed, by 1986, with the passage by the South Dakota legislature of no-fault divorce provisions, all fifty states had adopted some form of no-fault divorce. Doris Jonas Freed & Timothy B. Walker, Family Law in the Fifty States: An Overview, 19 Fam. L.Q. 331, 335 (1986). Pennsylvania, no exception to this trend, recognizes no-fault divorces. [FN2] See 23 Pa.C.S. § 3301 (c), (d). We agree with those jurisdictions that have looked towards the development of no-fault divorce law for a principle to decide engagement ring cases, and the inherent weaknesses in any fault-based system lead us to adopt a no-fault approach to resolution of engagement ring disputes. FN2. The Superior Court explained the rationale behind the legislature's enactment, in 1980, of provisions for no-fault divorce: we emphasize that the purpose of the legislature's enactment of no-fault provisions in divorce in addition to the traditional fault provisions was to provide for dissolution of marriage in a manner which would keep pace with contemporary social realities and not to advance "the vindication of private rights or the punishment of matrimonial wrongs." Jayne v. Jayne, 443 Pa.Super. 664, 674, 663 A.2d 169, 174 (1995) (citations omitted). Having adopted this no-fault principle, we still must address the original argument that the donor should not get return of the ring when the donor terminates the engagement. Such a rule would be consonant with a no-fault approach, it is argued, because it need not look at the reasons for termination of the engagement; if there is proof that the donor ended the relationship, **647 then he has frustrated the occurrence of the condition and cannot benefit from that. In other words, we are asked to adopt a no-fault approach that would always deny the donor return of the ring where the donor breaks the engagement. [4] We decline to adopt this modified no-fault position, [FN3] and hold that the donor is entitled to return of the ring even if *9 the donor broke the engagement. We believe that the benefits from the certainty of our rule outweigh its negatives, and that a strict no-fault approach is less flawed than a fault-based theory or modified no-fault position. [FN4] FN3. The modified no-fault position is no more satisfactory than a strict no-fault system because it, too, would create an injustice whenever the donor who called off the wedding had compelling reasons to do so. FN4. Although other "scenarios" related to the consequences of a cancelled wedding can undoubtedly be "envisioned," they are not presented for decision in this case and therefore warrant no comment. We affirm the Order of the Superior Court. Justice CAPPY files a dissenting opinion in which Justices CASTILLE and SAYLOR join. Justice CASTILLE files a dissenting opinion in which Justices CAPPY and SAYLOR join. CAPPY, Justice, dissenting. The majority advocates that a strict no-fault policy be applied to broken engagements. In endorsing this view, the majority argues that it is not only the modern trend but also the approach which will eliminate the inherent weaknesses of a fault based analysis. According to the majority, by adopting a strict no fault approach, we will remove from the courtroom the necessity of delving into the inter-personal dynamics of broken engagements in order to decide which party retains possession of the engagement ring. This view brings to mind the words of Thomas Campbell from The Jilted Nymph: "Better be courted and jilted than never be courted at all." As I cannot endorse this approach, I respectfully dissent. An engagement ring is a traditional token of the pledge to marry. It is a symbol of nuptial intent dating back to AD 860. The engagement ring was to be of a valued metal representing a financial sacrifice for the husband to be. Two other customs regarding the engagement ring were established in that same century: forfeiture of the ring by a man who reneged on a marriage pledge; surrender of the ring by the woman who broke off an engagement. See Charles Panati, Extraordinary Origins of Everyday Things (copyright 1987). This concept is consistent with conditional gift law, which has always been followed in Pennsylvania. Stanger v. Epler, 382 Pa. 411, 115 A.2d 197 (1955); Ruehling v. Hornung, 98 Pa.Super. 535 (1930); C.J.S. Gifts § 61. *10 When the marriage does not take place the agreement is void and the party who prevented the marriage agreement from being fulfilled must forfeit the engagement ring. Pavlicic v. Vogtsberger, 390 Pa. 502, 136 A.2d 127 (1957). The majority urges adoption of its position to relieve trial courts from having the onerous task of sifting through the debris of the broken engagement in order to ascertain who is truly at fault and if there lies a valid justification excusing fault. Could not this theory justifying the majority's decision be advanced in all other arenas that our trial courts must venture? Are broken engagements truly more disturbing than cases where we ask judges and juries to discern possible abuses in nursing homes, day care centers, dependency proceedings involving abused children, and criminal cases involving horrific, irrational injuries to innocent victims? The subject matter our able trial courts address on a daily basis is certainly of equal sordidness as any fact pattern they **648 may need to address in a simple case of who broke the engagement and why. I can envision a scenario whereby the prospective bride and her family have expended thousands of dollars in preparation for the culminating event of matrimony and she is, through no fault of her own, left standing at the altar holding the caterer's bill. To add insult to injury, the majority would also strip her of her engagement ring. Why the majority feels compelled to modernize this relatively simple and ancient legal concept is beyond the understanding of this poor man. Accordingly, as I see no valid reason to forgo the established precedent in Pennsylvania for determining possession of the engagement ring under the simple concept of conditional gift law, I cannot endorse the modern trend advocated by the majority. Respectfully, I dissent. Justices CASTILLE and SAYLOR join this dissenting opinion. *11 CASTILLE, Justice, dissenting. I dissent from the majority's opinion because I do not believe that a no-fault policy should be applied to broken engagements and the issue of which party retains the engagement ring. The Restatement of Restitution, § 58 comment c, discusses the return of engagement rings and states that: Gifts made in the hope that a marriage or contract of marriage will result are not recoverable, in the absence of fraud. Gifts made in anticipation of marriage are not ordinarily expressed to be conditional and, although there is an engagement to marry, if the marriage fails to occur without the fault of the donee, normally the gift cannot be recovered. If, however, the donee obtained the gift fraudulently or if the gift was made for a purpose which could be obtained only by the marriage, a donor who is not himself at fault is entitled to restitution if the marriage does not take place, even if the gift was money. Keating Five The Keating Five (or Keating Five Scandal) refers to a Congressional scandal related to the collapse of most of the Savings and Loan institutions in the United States in the late 1980s. Following the deregulation of the banking industry in the 1980s, savings and loan associations (also known as thrifts) were given the flexibility to invest their depositors' funds in commercial real estate. (Previously, they had been restricted to investing in residential real estate.) Many savings and loan associations began making risky investments. As a result, the Federal Home Loan Bank Board, the federal agency that regulates the industry, tried to clamp down on the trend. In so doing, however, the FHLBB clashed with the Reagan administration, whose policy was deregulation of many industries, including the thrift industry. The administration declined to submit budgets to Congress that would request more funding for the FHLBB's regulatory efforts. In 1989, the Lincoln Savings and Loan Association of Irvine, Calif., collapsed. Lincoln's chairman, Charles H. Keating Jr., was faulted for the thrift's failure. Keating, however, told the House Banking Committee that the FHLBB and its former chief Edwin J. Gray were pursuing a vendetta against him. Gray testified that several U.S. senators had approached him and requested that he ease off on the Lincoln investigation. It came out that these senators had been beneficiaries of $1.3 million (collective total) in campaign contributions from Keating. This allegation set off a series of investigations by the California government, the United States Department of Justice, and the Senate Ethics Committee. The ethics committee's investigation focused on five senators: Alan Cranston (D-CA); Dennis DeConcini (D-AZ); John Glenn (D-OH); John McCain (R-AZ); and Donald W. Riegle, Jr. (D-MI), who became known as the Keating Five. After months of testimony revealed that all five senators acted improperly to differing degrees, the senators continually said they were following the status quo of campaign funding practices. In August 1991, the committee concluded that Cranston, DeConcini, and Riegle's conduct constituted substantial interference with the FHLBB's enforcement efforts and that they had done so at the behest of Charles Keating. The committee recommended censure for Cranston and criticized the other four for "questionable conduct." As it happened, Cranston, who was nearly 80 years of age, had already decided not to run for re-election in 1992. DeConcini and Riegle continued to serve in the Senate until their terms expired, but they did not seek re-election in 1994. DeConcini was appointed by President Bill Clinton in February, 1995 to the Board of Directors of the Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corporation. [1] Glenn did choose to run for re-election in 1992 and it was anticipated that he would have some difficulty winning a fourth term in the Senate. However, Glenn handily defeated Lieutenant Governor R. Michael DeWine for one more term in the Senate before retiring in 1999. The scandal was followed by a number of attempts to adopt campaign finance reform—spearheaded by U.S. Sen. David Boren (D-OK)—but most attempts died in committee. A weakened reform was passed in 1993. Substantial campaign finance reform was not passed until the adoption of the McCain-Feingold Act in 2002. The only member of the Keating Five still in the U.S. Senate is John McCain. John McCain was forced to re-invent himself as a campaign reformer in order to keep his seat in the Senate. Now he’s running for President, the biggest lobbyist haven of all. Your Views? I feel obligated to say something about McDonalds because, as the Talmud says, "Silence is akin to assent." The full truth of my conclusion I shall develop in the course of this letter but the conclusion's general outline is that McDonalds is firmly convinced that you and I are objects for it to use then casually throw away and forget like old newsprint that's performed its duty catching bird droppings. Its belief is controverted, however, by the weight of the evidence indicating that McDonalds always cavils at my attempts to make the world safe for democracy. That's probably because if there's one thing that McDonalds's good at, it's spreading the germs of hatred, of discord and jealously, of dissolution and decomposition. McDonalds claims that it does the things it does "for the children". I would say that that claim is 70% folderol, 20% twaddle, and 10% another nettlesome attempt to give an air ofWe have a dilemma of leviathan proportions on our hands: Should we view the realms of McCarthyism and interdenominationalism not as two opposing poles but as two continua, or is it sufficient to dispense justice? If you feel that McDonalds's debauches are the result of a high-minded urge to do sociological research then you won't understand my answer no matter how carefully I explain it. You won't understand my answer if you insist that McDonalds has achieved sainthood. However, you have a chance at understanding my answer if you're open-minded enough to realize that that which is built inextricably into the laws of the universe cannot be completely obscene. Disguised in this drollery is an important message: I intend to look closely at McDonalds's projects to see what makes them so effectual at turning politicos loose against us good citizens. I should expect to find -- this is a guess that I currently lack sufficient knowledge to verify -- that McDonalds oppresses its critics by crushing them, expelling them, pauperizing them, and cutting them off from families and friends. That said, let me continue. McDonalds will do everything in its power to shatter and ultimately destroy our most precious possessions. No wonder corruption is endemic to our society; McDonalds's catch-phrases have merged with mercantalism in several interesting ways. Both spring from the same kind of reality-denying mentality. Both deny citizens the ability to draw their own conclusions about the potential for violence that McDonalds may be generating. And both make a big deal out of nothing. McDonalds sees only one side of the issue. Let me rephrase that: McDonalds speaks like a true defender of the status quo -- a status quo, we should not forget, that enables it to create a kind of psychic pain at the very root of the modern mind. If McDonalds continues to dupe people into believing that we should avoid personal responsibility, I will be obliged to do something about it. And you know me: I never neglect my obligations. To simplify, you should be sure to let me know your ideas about how to deal with McDonalds. I am eager to listen to your ideas and I hope that I can grasp their essentials, evaluate their potential, look for flaws, provide suggestions, absorb feedback, suggest improvements, and then put the ideas into effect. Only then can we champion the force of goodness against the greed of the most dissolute soi-disant do-gooders I've ever seen. Before McDonalds initiated a misoneism flap to help promote its purblind pleas, people everywhere were expected to initiate meaningful change. Nowadays, it's the rare person indeed who realizes that I would sooner let McDonalds force me to contract leprosy and be forced to live out my benighted days shunned by humanity, ringing a bell, and shying away from sharps and open flames than become one of its advocates. For that reason, McDonalds hates it when you say that its squibs run contrary to even the most cursory observation of the real world. It really hates it when you say that. Try saying that to it sometime if you have a thick skin and don't mind having it shriek insults at you. McDonalds, quixotic swindlers, and a few decent but occasionally socially inept people are engaged in a desperate struggle for the soul of society, but I won't linger on that. While it's true that McDonalds rather grandiloquently refers to me and everyone else it dislikes as a dotty self-proclaimed arbiter of taste and standard, it has yet to acknowledge that fact. Ladies and gentlemen, you don't need to look far to see that McDonalds functions not as a social critic, but as an unoriginal imitator of the ruling ideologues. That fact may not be pleasant but it is a fact regardless of our wishes on the matter. McDonalds's method (or school, or ideology -- it is hard to know exactly what to call it) goes by the name of "McDonalds-ism". It is a disorderly and avowedly surly philosophy that aims to sidetrack us, so we can't declare a truce with McDonalds and commence a dialogue. Why does McDonalds want to encumber the religious idea with too many things of a purely earthly nature and thus bring religion into a totally unnecessary conflict with science? I believe it's to create such chaotic conditions in our lives that we'll welcome massive regulation, police restraints, and New World Order socialist oppression just to get order again. If you don't believe me then consider that there is nothing McDonalds wants more than to impede the free flow of information. And here, I profess, lies a clue to the intellectual vacuum so gapingly apparent in its cajoleries. McDonalds seeks scapegoats for its own shortcomings by blaming the easiest target it can find, that is, ignominious barmpots. I am not fooled by McDonalds's dangerous and eristic rhetoric. I therefore gladly accept the responsibility of notifying others that McDonalds ought to realize that the most valuable of all talents is that of never using two words when one will do. Unfortunately, it tends to utter so much verbiage about classism that I can conclude only that what we're seeing is a domino effect of events that started with McDonalds stating that it is manipulative to question its tractates. That prevarication incited its lieutenants to weaken our mental and moral fiber. Splenetic spoilsports reacted, in turn, by increasing society's cycle of hostility and violence. The next domino to fall, not surprisingly, was a widespread increase in deconstructionism, and that's the event that galvanized me to tell everyone that McDonalds is the picture of the insane person on the street, babbling to a tree, a wall, or a cloud, which cannot and does not respond to its codices. You should not ask, "How much longer can we tolerate McDonalds's voluble commentaries before the whole country collectively throws up?", but rather, "What exactly is the principle that rationalizes McDonalds's fastidious ipse dixits?". The latter question is the better one to ask because McDonalds is inherently incompetent, abominable, and malicious. Oh, and it also has a self-serving mode of existence. McDonalds always looks the other way when one of its spokesmen gets it in his head to subject human beings to indignities. Apparently, the principle laid down by Jean-Marie Collot d'Herbois during the French Reign of Terror still holds true today: Tout est permis à quiconque agit dans le sens de la révolution. McDonalds should not confuse, disorient, and disunify. Not now, not ever. An axiom among McDonalds's vicegerents is that McDonalds can exploit other cultures for self-entertainment and get away with it. Of course, it's not that simple. McDonalds descends from a long line of prudish, predaceous cowards who like to violate the basic tenets of journalism and scholarship. Let me explain. A central point of McDonalds's belief systems is the notion that we ought to worship disgusting, soporific criticasters as folk heroes. Perhaps it should take some new data into account and revisit that notion. I think it'd find that it swears that faddism is the key to world peace. Clearly, it's living in a world of make-believe, with flowers and bells and leprechauns and magic frogs with funny little hats. Back in the real world, McDonalds says it's going to pervert human instincts by suppressing natural, feral constraints and encouraging abnormal patterns of behavior in a matter of days. Good old McDonalds. It just loves to open its mouth and let all kinds of things come out without listening to how dour they sound. This much is clear: McDonalds has compiled an impressive list of grievances against me. Not only are all of these grievances completely fictitious, but McDonalds has frequently been spotted making nicey-nice with directionless, besotted evildoers. Is this because it needs their help to exercise control through indirect coercion or through psychological pressure or manipulation? The answer is rather depressing but I'll tell you anyway. The answer begins with the observation that McDonalds keeps saying that every word that leaves its mouth is teeming with useful information. For some reason, McDonalds's slaves actually believe this nonsense. I could be wrong about any or all of this, but at the moment, the above fits what I know of history, people, and current conditions. If anyone sees anything wrong or has some new facts or theories on this, I'd love to hear about them. scientific impartiality to bias
What is the colonized mindset? The colonised mindset: The enemy within the African communities. SendMeYourNews Jul 23, 2006 07:12 PDT =+= Get on TheBlackList: http://www.topica.com/lists/TheBlackList "Men who are in earnest are not afraid of consequences", Marcus Garvey. =+= ----- Original Message ----- From: Cheryl Sanchez mailto:sanchez-@hotmail.com To: sendmey-@earthlink.net Sent: Sunday, July 23, 2006 8:48 AM The colonised mindset: The enemy within the African communities. The writer is going to put forward an argument that unless the slave/colonial mindset is recognised as the active enemy, within the African communities world-wide, attempts to understand the social and economic problems will be useless. This mindset has been affecting the individual/family /organisations/community and nations alike. From an early age, adults have been referring to people as having "being colonial or slave minded" in a most benign way. It as if having this mindset is like having a flue. You treat the symptoms and eventually, it should go away, if the immune system is acute and alert. In reality, it is the most virulent psychological condition prevalent amongst African communities. The damage is too enormous to consider in this essay. It has and is still destroying from individuals to revolutions to states eg Patrice Lumumba-Congo, Thomas Sankara-Bukina Faso, Walter Rodney-Guyana, Cabral, Malcolm X and Bantu S Biko to name a few. When foreign money, the lust for power and the colonial mindset met-destruction is sure to follow. Mineral rich DRC remains the most tragic example today. Also Angola before the timely death of Savimbi, " Washington's kept man". Failure to confront and systematically deal with this enemy is equivalent to failure to live and or thrive. HISTORY The disastrous effects of slavery and colonialism on the physical aspect of the Africans in the Americas, the Caribbean and on mainland Africa have been well documented by a host of European and African-American historians including Basil D Davidson, Walter Rodney and Professor Jeffries. Few writers have focused on the debilitating effects of the mindset on the emotions and the psychology as Carter G Woodson( 1875-1950)was probably a pioneer when he addressed this condition in his book - The Mis-Education of the Negro. Later, Dr Na'im Akbar painstakingly outlined the psychological effects in his book- Chains and Images of psychological slavery. Professor Joy Leary recently attempted to put the psychological trauma concept in the public domain during a recent lecture tour in London but, few Africans wanted to even contemplate this concept as an explanation for some of their behaviour towards each other. It is of paramount importance to understand the disastrous reality of the sate accurately described by Woodson and take action to treat it. "When you control a man's thinking you do not have to worry about his actions. You do not have to tell him not to stand there or go yonder. He or she will find his "proper place" and will stay in it. You do not need to send him to the back door. He will go without being told. In fact, if there is no back door, he will cut one for his special benefit. His education makes it necessary". Woodson showed a lot of foresight in his early detection of the destructive side of the slave/colonial mindset. It is a pity that, most Pastors and self-appointed "community" leaders do not recommend this book to the many families who come through their doors. They do not even bothered with a plan of action to treat this mindset. Examples This mindset certainly has a blindfolding effect eg African girls aspiring to be like their "blonde Barbie dolls". African men dream of marrying "a Barbie doll" type of woman as soon as they arrive in Europe and or UK/USA/Canada, so as not to have "too black" children. Michael Jackson's obsession with his costly body- altering project. It also causes US Africans/Afrikans to focus on the body, material gadgets, short cuts. The physical environment of the homes is often out of balance with the people who inhabit the space. Their homes always have a blonde type Jesus on the walls but no other famous Africans like Bantu Biko, Thomas Sankara etc. The African educationalist and parents both on the mainland, Caribbean and the Americas have avoided including or making the early and middle years curricula more relevant to our developmental needs. This opportunity to change our course of history is missed again and again. At organisational level, colonise minded but the super qualified committee members are often afraid to put decolonisation strategy and or Pan-Africanism into the constitution of their organisation. This also affects the type of name or identity they take on. Eg the NAACP-The National Association for the Advancement of "Coloured" people. One would have thought that aparthedist South-Africa racial policies would have caused this organisation to re-think it's chosen but, they not change from NAACP to NAAAP. One could only guess when you start your organisation with white liberals/ or jews in leadership roles, the de-colonisation agenda never became a priority for this organisation. The OAS/AU is no different. It has been in existence for over 50 years and still cannot bring itself to be known as a Pan-Africanist organisation thus, it remains a toothless nationalistic organisation. Even when organisations put Pan-Africanism at the forefront eg PAC in South-African, the de-colonisation process and project, which is necessary for health and longevity of the organisation is not a priority either. Well meaning or naïve activists continue to take a gamble by hoping against hope that, a few committed and reliable people could suddenly change 400 years of psychological damage facing the African worldwide. Things could have been different if, the PAC was able to capture the interest and support of the majority of the 24 million native South-Africans and their rands, to keep the movement financially buoyant and turn it into a political powerful force in South-African society. The mindset nutures self-hating , self- destruction and confidence lowering . This is evident in the practice of self- harming through bleaching the skin, straigthening the hair and looking to Europe and European institutions as saviours. It also makes killing each other almost acceptable. The eminent African-American Bobby E Wright (1984) explained in his book "we have never been trained to kill Europeans" but, we seem to be able kill each other (black on black) violence instinctively. It also makes us have a warped and unrealistic view of our reality. It may cause some, like Dr Kenneth B Clarke to say," race is irrelevant". Even African-America Dr Alvin Poussant, who used his qualification avoid addressing the current colonisation condition. He used his stint in Ebony Magazine to deal with the a few middles class anxieties. What a shame! The Slave/Colonial mindset-the Trojan Horse The Europeans understand how important the psychological warfare project is to their continued hold on Africa, which is why they got their missionaries to influences chiefs and other leaders in Africa, to send their young children to their missionary schools. At these missionary/faith-based schools, young children were indoctrinated on a grand scale. These young children come from cultures where, almost all adults are feared and or certainly not questioned, made the work of the European teachers easier. This is why it should not alarm us or surprise us that, Mobutu, Savimbi and their cronies behaved in the way they did to their own people and their own resources. The mindset, the lust for power and foreign money-from the USA mainly kept them destroying their respective countries, in the name of capitalism and the other G6 powers. The USA officials who paid Savimbi through Mobutu millions and millions of American tax-payers money to literally destroy a revolution and 2 countries, have never been brought to justice. If both of these colonial minded individuals did not die, they would be still destroying the country and squandering their resources for self-aggrandisement, with Washington's approval. The foreign powers/handlers knew millions of people were being tortured, kill, maimed, punished and starved of food and other life necessities, in their interest. Whilst all this was happening in full view of other Africans, many of them in the Caribbean and continued going to the states" to make it". Meanwhile Africans affected by these individuals and American money and foreign policy, eventually started heading for the UK and the USA seeking "refuge". It should not surprise us at the way the Europeans view certain individuals. The American state had to get rid of Malcolm X by any means necessary. The Belgian/USA/UK governments saw Patrice Lumumba as an uncompromising character when it came to his understanding of independence. France could not stomach an independent minded Thomas Sankara who wanted to transform Bukina Faso in the interest of it's people. The apartheid South-Africa did not dare allow Bantu Stephen Biko to live-he was too clear about his position and his understanding of the social/economic/political situation. He wanted all or nothing. Walter Rodney exposed the hypocrisy of Europe's role in Africa-it became a real annoyance in European academic circles. The under-development was the strategy and the means to achieving this outcome was to nurture their own "loyal Africans". Off course the "loyal Africans" are another name for the colonial minded. Rich men and women often have their "kept women" Well, so to rich Europe has their "kept men". France has Francoise Compoare of Bukina Faso. The USA has theirs in the form of Paul Kagame. Spain/USA has Obiang Nguema of Equatorial Guinea- Africa third largest producer of oil. Shell and the UK and other oil companies operating in Nigeria have been keeping the Hausa dominated army and government since 1970. The CIA/USA/France had army man Hissen Habre- a man who was less than friendly to USA's imagined enemy Gadaffi. Chadian named him, "Africa's Pinochet". USA supported the Duvalier family for 30 years and off course Savimbi in Angola. See William Blum(2001) Rogue State. Chapter 17. The Consequences If African thinkers and educationalists alike continue to neglect the content of early and middle years curricula, they would be fighting a losing battle against the slave/colonial mindset, capitalism, fashion and mass-media. The same way, one cannot expect to put new wine in an old wineskin so to, one cannot expect the slave/colonial minded to suddenly change his or her learnt behaviour. This behaviour has been around for the last 350 years. It might have started as, a means of coping in strange and often hostile societies in the Caribbean and America in the late 17th century. Joy Leary would argue African communities must admit the existence of post traumatic syndrome before, the treatment could be sought. No admission means that, this major debilitating psychological condition would linger and fester away. Off course when a few like, Thiongo'o(1938-) changed his behaviour in his adulthood, by going back to his Gikuyu name and writing in his own language rather than English only, is inspirational to rest who remain in this regressive state of mind. He used his book-Decolonising the mind: the politics of language in African literature(1986) as a platform to encourage African challenged about their attitude towards Africa and or NJAC. Ngugi wa writers to write in their own language to make their books more meaningful to Africans on the continent. It is not only about writing in one's own language although, that is a positive start. It is about having a core teaching curricula that could be used world-wide. Even if people write in their own indigenous language but continue to see Europe as the solution to their problems-the colonised mind remains untouched. The writer applauds the work of Haki Madibuti and Dr Karenga and Molefi Asante. The African need more people like the above, if we are to be taken seriously. Why are members of NJAC( National Joint Action committee) and their 36 year old organisation in Trinidad, still viewed as not worthy of support from the majority of African-Trinidadians? The slave/colonial mindset, which makes people ridicule members for re-claiming their African heritage via taking on African names. One can often hear African-Trinidadians and other Africans born abroad saying in a most offensive voice, "I am not African" when asked about their identity. Thai is the colonial mindset expressing their ignorance. What do we begin? The logical place for decolonisation to begin is in the home, with parents taking the lead. The early years 0-11 is the crucial time to inculcate the Afrocentric values. It means that, we have to be prepared to build our own nurseries and create our own culturally inclusive and sensitive curricula. The parents must be re-educated. It is almost pointless waiting until a child becomes an adult, when he may or may not be exposed to Pan-Africanism. All the research available would agree that, the pre-natal and early years are the most important educating years. Ideally, the decolonisation ideals should be embedded in the early years curricula, The Community leaders and families should make attempts to discuss post trauma syndrome and it's effects openly and proactively put into place some short term and long term remedies. 3 African American writers who wrote the The Black Parenting Book did not pursue the de-colonisation project in their book either. There are 17 chapters in this book yet, Pan-Africanism and or the issue of the slave/colonial mindset were not addressed in a very active way. There chapters on Family Traditions and Spirituality without making mention of the importance of Kwanzaa. There was a chapter on " Black and Proud" not African and proud. There should have a chapter on how and why Africans came to self hate and hate all things African. Where did it all begin? The book tackled particular parenting approach, which was used by African American parents but, they did not attempt to give the psychological or economic reasons why most African parents worldwide use the authoritarian model rather than the authoritative model. Authoritarian- powerful, assertive/aggressive (verbally or physically adult leads or makes all the decisions, which are imposed on child. May be highly critical. Parents may be likely to use shouting and hitting. Parents may even talk about "I want you to fear me". Authoritative- Parents use reciprocity and a democratic style, which allows child to lead but establishes safe limits and boundaries. Parents are likely to use encouragement, provide choices and highlight consequences and positive feedback and use time-out and put penalities in place, as part of their disciplining package. It might have been helpful to explain why some African parents use the former than the latter? It would have been more useful to write the book in some African languages and use a work -book with exercises to involve all members of the family. This book could be described as the product of a well meaning qualified but, obviously apolitical professionals. The writers tackled all the symptoms but never ventured near the core causes. They missed an opportunity to focus on the link between the type of the society, which produces such parents focusing on a post-colonial/slave/capitalist, racist society such as the USA. Conclusion. The Decolonisation project and treating post trauma syndrome are as necessary to Africans, as oxygen and water are to humankind existence. Neither can be avoided any longer due to it being "too sensitive" an issue. The message to all the Pan-Africanists/Humanist individuals, families and organisations , which are always short of committed, reliable and discipline foot soldiers is this, put some of your efforts and money into the 0-11 years olds and an African Parenting project, based on an Afrocentric model and treatment for psychological trauma and other self-harming behaviour. If any individual/family or organisation is interested ion the guture well being of Africans- the aforementioned approaches are vital. Otherwise, a plethora of colonial minded and dishonest Pastors from diverse Christian sects, the mass-media, fashion, cars and short term attractions and whatever other European cultural left-overs would grab the minds of the majority of Africans. The slave/colonial mind is dangerous to Pan-Africanist and African humanist alike. Those African "kept men" or Europe's trojan horses will continue the pauperization policies of a very rich continent. They will repeat policies and slogans without even analysing them. They will like the major obstacle to progress, changes, self-empowerment and unification of African peoples. Instead of enabling and building capacities and re-skilling people, they will disable, de-skill and pauperize people. The colonial minded knows nothing else. The Europeans using their white skins as authority continue to pamper and encourage their "kept men" to the detriment of the majority of Africans, who continue to suffer and to be killed with the weapons made in the USA/UK/Israel and other European countries.
